Stop The Funding of Abortion in OregonWe are in serious need of more signatures for the StopThe Funding Of Abortion In Oregon petition drive. Inorder to qualify for the November 2018 election, weneed a minimum if 117, 578 voter signatures, andwish to attain several thousand more in the case ofpossible signature penalties if some are found to beinvalid. We currently have 93,000 signatures.

That means we need at least 25,000 moresignatures. If each Knight in Oregon collected just 3more signatures, that could get the measure on theballot. With your support we can do this!

Opioid EpidemicOpioids are medications that relieve pain byinteracting with opioid receptors on nerve cells in thebody and brain. According to a recent report, 2.4million Americans are addicted to opioids. and 103Americans unintentionally die each day from opioidoverdoses, about 42,000 deaths a year.

Being prescribed does not automatically makemedication safe. Oregon has one of the highest ratesof opioid misuse in the nation. An average of 3Oregonians die each week from prescription opioidoverdose, and many more develop opioid usedisorder. Visit the Oregon Health Authority websiteat www.oregon.gov for more information.

Scriptural Verses to RememberDeuteronomy 30:15-20 - See, I have today set before you life and death, good and evil. If you obey thecommandments of the Lord, your God, which I am giving you today, loving the Lord, your God, and walkingin His ways, and keeping His commandments, statutes, and ordinances, you will live and grow numerous, andthe Lord, your God, will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.

If, however, your heart turns away and you do not obey, but are led astray and bow down to other godsand serve them, I tell you today that you will certainly perish; you will not have a long life on the land whichyou are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess.

I call heaven and earth today to witness against you: I have set before you life and death, the blessingand the curse. Choose life, then, that you and your descendants may live, by loving the Lord, your God, obeyingHis voice, and holding fast to Him. For that will mean life for you, a long life for you to live on the land whichthe Lord swore to your ancestors, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give to them.

Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection ActA U.S. Congressional bill to ban late-term abortionsafter 20 weeks post-fertilization on the basis that thefetus is capable of feeling pain during an abortion atand after that point of pregnancy was passed by theHouse on October 3, 2017. The bill failed 51 to 46 inthe Senate on January 29, 2018,

Oregon Senators Jeff Merkley and RonWyden both voted against the bill as they also did onan identical bill in 2015. Both Senators co-sponsoreda bill in February, 2017, to repeal the Mexico CityPolicy which bans funding of non-governmentalorganizations that promote abortion.

The United States remains in the company ofsix other countries that do not ban late-term abortion:China, Singapore, North Korea, Vietnam, Canada, and the Netherlands.
