Share the joy of tzedakah.Welcome to The Tzedakah Book, lled with

inspiring pro les about improving the lives ofthose in need, both near and far from home.

In each pro le, children will seeprecisely how tzedakah contributionswill be spent and who will be helped, personalizing the giving experienceand bringing it to life.

The gift of giving.Devoting one night of Hanukkah to acelebration of Tzedakah is a breeze, and will demonstrate that giving feelsgood.

Start with the basics: wrap a copyof The Tzedakah Book for each childindividually, along with envelopes andgelt for them to give in any amount thatsuits your familys budget.

Take your time.Spend time together looking through the

Tzedakah Book, exploring the many waystheir gift can help improve the lives of others.

Dress it up.Include stickers, glitter, markers, colored pencils, andnote cards in the gift wrapped Tzedakah Book box so yourchildren can decorate their own Tiny Tzedakah Box usingthe template inside. Plus , they can include beautifullydecorated notes with their tzedakah gelt. Encourage yourchildren to really own the process, from selecting whereto give to addressing the envelopes and dropping themin the mailbox. The more they do on their own, the morememorable the experience will be.

Food Lifelines mission is to end hunger in Western Washington by engaging communities andmobilizing resources. Food Lifeline relies on the generosity of local community members to help support

this mission and ensure every child, adult and senior has access to the wholesome, nutritious food theyneed to get through each day.

People in Western Washington are hungry. How hungry? Of the more than 675,000 people Food Lifelineserves each year, 47% have had to choose between paying for food and paying for utilities. Thirty-sevenpercent of the people Food Lifeline serves are children and 12% are seniors. Learn more atwww.foodlifeline.org.

Food Lifeline was created in 1979 by a small group of lawmakers, food industry representatives, and local food banks who saw a need for a distribution center to accept truckload-sized donations andredistribute them in manageable quantities to local food banks. Today, Food Lifeline proudly continues toperform this vital service, distributing food to nearly 300 local food banks, meal programs and shelters to

help feed your neighbors in need.By using 95% of revenue to feed hungry people, Food Lifeline is ef cient, effective and makes the

most of each donation. Last year, the organization provided 19 million meals to hungry people in localcommunities, and had the support of more than 6,680 community volunteers.

As a member of the national organization, Feeding America, Food Lifeline is also connected to morethan 200 fellow members across the nation, and can learn valuable information from its peers.

    HOW YOU CAN HELP

With your support, Food Lifeline can make sure that children dont go to bed hungry at night, andseniors dont have to choose between buying medicine and buying food. Your donation goes a long wayto help others, as 95 cents of every$1 donated goes directly towardfeeding hungry people.

During these dif cult economictimes, more people are at risk ofhunger and local food banks, mealprograms and shelters are turningto Food Lifeline to help nd theresources needed to feed theseindividuals. Together we can endhunger, one meal at a time.

    Who we are

Our community has shocking disparities in health. But nowhere are those disparities more evidentthan in southeast Seattle. Did you know that the infant mortality rate in Rainier Valley is twice as highas Bellevues? Or that life expectancy is almost 10 years less than on Mercer Island, located just a mileaway?

Everyone deserves access to quality health care. And theres no better way to ensure accessthan to build health care homes where theyre needed most. In early 2011, Neighborcare Health willopen the doors of our new Rainier Beach Medical & Dental Clinic in southeast Seattles Rainier Beachneighborhood. Caring for 15,000 patients each year, this LEED Silver-certi ed facility will provideintegrated medical, dental and mental health services all under one roof, leading to better healthoutcomes and greater preventive care in one of Seattles most underserved communities.

For over 40 years, Neighborcare Health has provided quality, affordable health care for our most vulnerable neighbors. We

care for more than 48,000 patients each year, with a focus onlow-income and uninsured families and individuals, seniors on

xed incomes, immigrants, and the homeless, in our 20 medical, dental and school-based clinic and program sites throughoutSeattle. We ask everyone to pay what they can, but no one isever turned away due to inability to pay.

The services we offer are more important than ever before. With your help, we can continue to make our neighborhoodshealthier and safer places for everyone.
