After the safe six-month period, Aishwarya nally stirred outdoors.
Wearing green and solicitously escorted by a protective ma-in-law and pa-in-law, the soon-to-be-mommy made a grand entry at Sanjay and Maanyata Dutt’s Mata Ki Chowki held at their Bandra residence. And then again she was there (this time in a white kurta) with Ma Jaya when Pa Bachchan launched Shri Hanuman
Chalisa in his unique baritone. The Shri Hanuman Chalisa has been recorded in Bachchan’s voice along with 20 other renowned names to music composed by Aadesh Shrivastava. The event was made even more enthralling with an electric, energetic group dance choreographed by Shiamak Davar. The function wound up within 20 minutes but mom-in-law Jaya pursed her lips disapprovingly when there was a scurry to photograph the preggers actress who had cleverly camou aged her baby bump with a long dupatta that covered her from neck to knee.
By the way, Amitabh’s punctuality (in contrast to SRK’s non-observance of other people’s time), knows no bounds. He started the event on the dot even though Jaya and Ash who were running a bit late hadn’t reached yet.
Big B waits for no one, not even family! Meanwhile the photographers turned up again outside the
Bachchan bungalow when they had a baby shower for Ash. Mom-in-law Jaya frowned again. News is that the Bachchans have already planned how to make a quiet getaway from the hospital once the baby arrives. No pose a la Hollywood with the baby (or babies, as one rumour persists) for this celebrity khandaan!

Hema Malini’s just done a new step. Actor, dancer, mother, lmmaker… all this goes without saying. But this time our Dream Girl did something that people thought was possible only in dreams. The producer-director of Tell Me O Kkhuda brought rivals
Shah Rukh, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar together on common ground. Huh, come again? While Salman does a cameo in Tell Me O Kkhuda, Akshay Kumar, along with Dimple Kapadia, was present at the music launch of the lm. (Dimple starred in Hema’s rst directorial venture, Dil Aashna Hai eons ago.) And King Khan with his trademark lack of punctuality, was the last to arrive. The charismatic man over owed with gratitude for the break that Hema gave him (Dil Aashna Hai) in Hindi lms, even though she was releasing Tell Me... at the same time as his RA.One. The stars were on common ground no doubt, but all at different times. While early bird Akshay Kumar left the venue quickly, Shah the midnight prowler came in late at night and Salman was far away shooting in Dublin for Ek Tha Tiger. Phew, Hema, smart and safe move!
Housewarming invites will soon go all around B-town as two prominent members of the fraternity have found large new
residences to move into. Rajkumar Hirani is bidding goodbye to the apartments he owned in the more modest Bandra East to welcome an independent house in a different suburb this Diwali. “It’s peaceful and quiet and ideal for writing my scripts,” the low-key director of 3 Idiots explained. Meanwhile, Farah Khan has already moved into her three independent storeys in a swishy building and she used her wacky sense of humour to send out her new address. Said her text message, “We have moved to our new home. All Diwali gifts to be happily sent here…” Guess which of her new neighbours is happy to have the lmmaker-choreographer living close by? It’s Himesh Reshammiya who’s looking forward to having his songs (yes, he’s back as a composer) choreographed by neighbour Farah!
Not the star dad (who took off for London quite happily) nor the star kid, it was star mom Punam Sinha who was the busiest person in B’wood this Diwali! That was the situation Shatrughan Sinha’s wife Punam found herself in as she juggled
hubby, kids along with their activities, not forgetting the main task of shifting back to Ramayan, their bungalow in Juhu, which has been completely rebuilt. This time each member of the Sinha family will get a oor to himself and mommy Punam huffed and puffed to try and meet a Diwali deadline. “Can’t wait anymore for all the oors to be ready. I’m getting just one duplex apartment ready,” she said between breathless rounds to Ramayan and back. Once they shift in, the Sinhas will all live under one roof in one apartment until each one gets his/her own oor. Hmm, it seems reports of daddy’s little girl, Sonakshi getting her own space were a bit premature.
On the ‘move’ – Rajkumar Hirani, wife and son
Mature magnetism – Rishi, Dharam, VK, Hema release the lm’s music
Tell me O dad – will it click? Dharam, Ahana
Here’s the lady who dared to compete with me – SRK, Hema, Esha
Sorry, got held up with RA.One promotions –SRK,Hema
Dream crowd – Yash Chopra, Dharmendra, Akshay, Dimple, Esha, Hema, Shatrughan Sinha

Vidya Balan burst into the room, squeaky clean. Looking as fresh as a teenager on her fi rst date, with a clear complexion, a touch of kajal
in her eyes and a bindi a la Parineeta, this was the visual of perfect physical and emotional health.
Huh? When last heard hadn’t she been hospitalised? But instead of a sighing, wilting, pale actress, she was exuberance in excellent form: an enforced two-week bed rest had brought the bounce back into her personality.
“I’ve been at home for the past two weeks and I haven’t done that for I don’t know how long,” Vidya prattled happily. “Maybe I just needed that. My parents were so strict this time around, they were really concerned. The haemoglobin count had dropped to 6.6.”
Yet, she had bashed on regardless, driving to Pune to honour a six-month old commitment and reporting for a one-day shoot for The Dirty Picture. “Thankfully, I got through the shoot that day,” she narrated. “I had a persistent headache, took Dispirin, no effect. I fi gured something was not right, spoke to my doctor. And he was livid. He said,
‘What did you say? You are shooting?’ He was so upset but I had just a couple of shots left to wrap up the day’s work, so I promised to rest after that. For low haemoglobin count, there’s nothing you can do but rest it out and eat plenty of iron rich food.”
It wasn’t, however, quite so simple. Next afternoon, when the Balan family sat down for Dassera lunch, “I suddenly got breathless. That’s when my family panicked and the doctor had me hospitalised. My family was happy to keep me in there because at home I start carrying the babies.”
Ah, the babies need an introduction by themselves. At the moment it’s a happy House Full at the Balan apartment where Vidya’s sis Priya is staying after her delivery. The whole household currently revolves around two-month-old twins, Ira (with lots of hair) and Ruhaan. After Vidya stayed in hospital for two days, she moved back home, “And for seven days, I didn’t carry the babies. I was heartbroken!
“I rested, had palak, beetroot and wheatgrass, and the haemoglobin levels rose automatically. I used to get constant headaches because of
