    Dear Parents and Families:

Reading for pleasure inside and outside of school has real and long-lasting benefits. It unlocks the power of

information and imagination and helps children discover who they are. Here’s what you can do to help children

develop stronger reading skills and a love for reading:

Set the example. Let children see you read.

Have a collection of books in the home. Update this collection routinely to keep pace with changing tastes and reading skills.

Support our school’s Book Fair. Allow your children to choose their own books to read.

Our Scholastic Book Fair is a reading event that brings to school the books kids want to read. It’s a wonderful

selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level. Pleas e make plans to visit our Book Fair or

    shop online at http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/shconroe.

We look forward to seeing you and your family at our Book Fair!

Remember, all purchases benefit our school.

    Sincerely,

    Mr. Ormsbee

    Librarian

  • WHAT DO YOU DO WITH

    YOUR RETIRED UNIFORMS?

    Sacred Heart Families,

In cooperation with the mandate of Pope Francis to look for opportunities to Evangelize, this is one way

Sacred Heart Catholic School can get involved! While we are in a transition year, those who have chosen

to wear the new uniforms can donate your “retired” Sacred Heart uniforms for a great cause!! We will

be collecting all retired uniforms throughout the school year and donating them to the SOLT Kobonal

Haiti Mission in Kobonal, Haiti! Please visit http://www.solthaitimission.org/ for more information.

Please bring any retired uniforms you would like to donate to the school office throughout the year and

we will send them all at the end of the school year! If you have any questions, please fill free to contact

Michelle Simon at 318-230-0083 or [email protected].

We want to help! Every Wednesday from dismissal until 4:30 p.m., volunteers from our parish’s high

school youth program come to Sacred Heart School in order to help with homework and the areas your

student may be struggling in. We strive to work with both you the parent, and your child’s teacher to

make sure we cover the things your child needs the most help with. We’ve offered this service for four

years now, and this year, we have more tutors than ever before. So if your child could use a little extra

help with their school work, send them to the library on Wednesdays after school and take advantage of

this free opportunity for one-on-one time to help your child succeed.

For more information, contact Ryan Janise at 281.622.9248 or by e-mail at [email protected]

Does your child need a little

    extra help with their homework
