Another Season has come to a quiet, frost delayed end. I would like to thankall our Members and Public golfers formaking this year a busy one. Even withall the rain this year everyone still cameout to the Dunes in good spirits andthat made this year enjoyable.

I would like to take this time to thankJackie, Leanne and Rhona for all theirhard work on our host tournaments thisyear. With new blood and new sponsorsall of this years Dunes events were asuccess.

From Opening day, to the above men-tioned frosty end the course looked andplayed great. My thanks to Shelly, Brianand all the maintenance crew for alltheir hard work. Especially during therainy weeks. A lot of water was pumpedby a hard working crew.

The Marshalls and the Backshoppershelped keep the course runningsmoothly again this season. My thanksto them for all their help. They quietlydo their jobs well and make my job somuch easier. I look forward to havingthem all back next season.

The Pro Shop had a lot of new faces thisyear. Adam, Mike, Peter, Eric, Kyle andMckenzie all got their rookie seasonunder their belts. I big thank you toAlex, Zac and Meagan for helping trainthe new crew. They all worked hard andwe had a few laughs along the way. Mybest to all of those that are back inschool and to those who returned totheir real jobs for the winter.

The Pro Shop is open for all your Christ-mas needs or if you just want to stop byand say hello.

As usual, I know you are waiting for mygolf game update from the season. Itwas a better year, except for that 99 firstround in the Men’s Open. The 99 wasn’tso bad as the 82 in the second roundwhich drew many chants of sandbagger.I can assure you I worked much hardershooting 99 then I did 82.

All the best for the holidays. Stay warm, drive safe and eat lots. I know you are allhappy my hockey team is back so I willfinish with GO JETS!

Director of Golf Operations Tournament CommitteeThanks to our 2011 Dunes Golf andWinter Club hosted event sponsorsand our golfers who bought 50/50’s,gambled on tee draws, bought aWest Jet ticket and bid on silentauction items we were able to raisejust over $6000.00 for our DunesJunior Program.

The Dunes recognizes in today’seconomy it may not be easy forsome of our Jr. community to par-ticipated in the game of golf, sotherefore we wish to make thegame of golf more accessible byproviding , golf camps, transporta-tion, memberships, green feepasses and lessons. We believe golfencourages fair play, sportsmanshipand self confidence. And becauseyou supported us we are taking astep in the right direction.

Merry Christmas and Thank you.

Food & Beverage

Looking back, this past golf seasonseems like a bit of a blur. I never man-aged to get out for as many rounds as Ihad dreamt of, but I did manage to seemost areas of the golf course at least acouple times. There were many experi-ences and challenges this year that I willbe able to draw upon for knowledge inseasons to come. I am already lookingforward to the next golf season, and

find myself growing jealous ofanyone reading this letter in

the warmersouthern cli-

mates. I justmight have

to make atrip

somewhere this off season to make suremy clubs still work. However, as an avidsnowboarder, I am also looking forwardto the light fluffy stuff.

As we all know, the holiday season isjust around the corner. The holiday sea-son means different things to differentpeople. For me it is a time to spend withfriends and family. Whether it be seeingfamily members who I don’t see oftenenough, or catching up with highschool friends who now live in differentcities. The holiday season is about holi-day cheer. This holiday season, I hopeeveryone has the opportunity to eat, drink and be merry. I know I will.

Maintenance

Tis the season to reflect on the yearpast. For us in maintenance it was awonderful season with many goodthings, with only a few less then desir-able events. All the rain this season defi-antly presented us with challenges…But at the same time we learned a greatdeal about our drainage systems, as wellas provided us with plenty of water forour irrigation pond.

We were certainly spoiled this year, withthe arrival of several pieces of newequipment, making our jobs faster andmore efficient. This year also gave us anew irrigation system, which wasneeded and definitely appreciated! Notsure how many noticed, but we hadvery few irrigation breaks this year, nowthat is something to be grateful for! Wewould also like to thank all of our dedi-cated, hardworking staff. You know whoyou are!

The golf course is ready for winter, withour irrigation lines empty and ourgreens put to bed. Let’s hope it’s a mildwinter with average snowfall. We wouldlike to wish everyone a safe and happyholiday season. See you all next year!
