As the 2012 Season is just around thecorner, I am looking forward to a longhot dry season for all the golfers thatcome out to join us at The Dunes. It willbe my fourth season and I am verypleased to welcome back almost all ofmy staff from last year. The rest of mygang in the shop, Marshalls and BackShoppers will all be back with a few newBack Shoppers earning their stripes atThe Dunes.

Rhona Law has returned to The CountryClub and I wish to thank her for all hersupport over the years. Mike Vincent willbe our new teaching Professional andwe are excited to have him offer individ-ual lessons as well as group and Juniorpackages. Please stop by the shop any-time and feel free to ask Mike to helpyou improve your game.

I would like to welcome Joc Langloisback as our new superintendent and Ilook forward to working with Brian,

Shelly, Joc and the maintenance crewthis season. They are already workinghard to get the course ready for what Ihope is a very busy season.

Normally this is the part of the letterthat I complain about the state of mygolf game but no sense beating an oldjoke to death. My golf game is an olddead joke. Let me instead enjoy thelimelight of my new Winnipeg Jets back,My old Jets the Phoenix Coyotes fight-ing for a playoff spot and the DenverBroncos signing Peyton Manning. TheBlue Bombers made the Grey Cup lastyear and I have enjoyed watchingSports Center a whole lot more this lastyear!

MaintenanceFinally, spring has returned to the PeaceCountry! The temperatures are climbingand so is the anticipation for the golf sea-son to start! And having just cleared all ofour greens of snow, we are able to breathea sigh of relief as it appears the greenswintered well, even through all of the rainand abnormal temperatures we saw thiswinter.

Though the warm weather caused ussome stress concerning ice on the greens,it also helped us… We did a major tree re-moval of beetle infected trees. So you maybe noticing some of the open spaceswhen you are playing this season.

We are proud to announce that The Dunesis one step closer to being Audubon certi-fied, having recently achieved Water Con-servation certificate. We would like toinvite anyone interested in becoming in-volved to approach us, as community in-volvement is crucial for Environmentalsuccess. Also new pictures for ourAudubon board are always welcomed!

Majority of the Turf Care Managementteam has returned for another season. With one special blast from the past...ourvery own Jocelyn Langlois! He has re-turned as our Superintendent/PropertyManager. Many of you will remember Jocfrom his earlier run as Superintendent. Jochas already been kept busy with multiple

improvement projects to the Clubhouseand the Turf Care Management facility. So on behalf of our unstoppable me-chanic Brian Bittner, the new and im-proved, man of the hour Jocelyn Langloisand the vastly talented Shelley Hoffman,we would like to welcome you to the 2012golf season!! Here’s hoping it’s a good one!Cheers

– Joc Langlois and Shelley Hoffman

Upstairs, I havebeen busy getting ready for my secondseason. This past offseason I have had thechance to work on a new menu thatshould be ready to go as soon as the golfseason is in full swing. I have many return-ing staff from last season and am currentlyin the process of hiring a new kitchenmanager. I am excited for the possibilitiesthis coming season and can’t wait to seesome faces I haven’t seen in a while. Ihope to provide all of our guests this sea-son with a constantly improving food andbeverage experience and believe I havethe staff to do it. Cheers and can’t wait tosee everyone again.
