The drama of the monastery Kernitsa.

The monastery Kernitsa or Kernitsa or Tsernitsa or Tzernitsa etc as they say, its nameconsists of the root "Tzernik" which probably is a Slavic word meaning "black"

because black marbles that once had 900th years ago vanished today, the medieval

town of Kernitsa.

A former monastery, rich with vineyards, farmhouses, windmills, more than 100

animals, 200 trees, beehives and houses, which offered bread to the poor, worked as a

secret school for illiterate enslaved Greeks, home for the needy and munitions depots

of Kolokotronis, now is in danger.

Over the years land, over 1500 acres, trampled by the surrounding villages, in

addition to those given by the monastery Kernitsa, to the landless. And as says

Colonel ret Nikolaos Floudas and honorary high school in 1969, who did a study of

the monastery ... "... those who committed or were committing the injustice and grow

and do not attach anything to the monastery, from their fields, even they do not help a

little the nuns, their work is not blessed by God and have the curse of these people

who gave these as gifts to the monastery and not to them, their belongings and prayers

of their families will not hear from Lady Kernitsiotissa. "

One can look at copies of old books of the monastery and see the great and rich

families of Kernitsa, donated their movable and immovable property to the

monastery.

Then the state since 1930, with the intention of selling a part of the property of the

Church, then left through the Highway Agency, the minimum in the monastery.

Today, a few days ago 100 beehives were stolen and constantly is a target of different

godless thieves, they do not know the wonders - punishments that have happened a

long time, to anyone who harmed the monastery.

The nuns now, which most of them are old and live with the few, the land around the

church of the monastery gives them. The cells, with visible moisture, making the

unbearable pain in back, neck or legs and the toilets being outside, seems closer to

achievement to approach them by the super-elderly nuns, especially in winter, where

the snow, do not leave them go out even for a glass of water or at least for their need.

These are things we noticed ourselves, from our visits to the monastery and we want

to emphasize that we are not informed about everything mentioned here by the nuns,

but come to see yourself what we say.

Imagine that are coming almost every Saturday, 3-4 buses with visitors and

astonished we saw with our own eyes elderly people taking pictures, like visiting a

touristic place and not even going to the "Find" place in the rock where the monastic

image insistingly went alone (!) and spare 20 to 30 cents only to light a candle!

They were looking for free wood images, from the small exhibition of the Monastery

and also require sweets and coffee and receive them from the cheerful nuns who are

running as waitresses! To get natural candles and remember to light in abundance, as

if what is more, most likely have to win that require ...

But all these who is bringing to them?

Who pays for natural candles, coffees, maintenance of churches and of themselves?

The same goes for coffee in cafes for free?

The nuns do not have a job!The coenobitic monastery does not allow to have their fortunes, that ought to know

the faithful visitors ...

Our family is baffled by this attitude of visitors ... which we also may had before

years...

The candles from our wedding and vaptisia of our son, we have it melt and exchanged

with candles, in Tripoli and gave them to the monastery, while our father makes them

any slight repair, since he is not a builder, but deals ... and our mother, sewing their

robes, of course free. Fortunately, are helping others ... but few ...

Our desire was to build the church of the Archangels, which is almost completing, my

family and other friends, bringing materials to the monastery. Now we must look to

their livelihoods. Those ignoring this desire and pride, seeking to offer the world their

help and not to take and for that they are amiable. Almost entirely is built the new

church of the Archangels and visit often our friends nuns trying to look on our own,

their problems, because they just smile ....

We ask all of you to help this "Lighthouse" not to shut from our region and our hearts.

Help!

It is a voice of our own and not of those nuns, is the voice of those who observe asvisitors this monastery and in no case is the voice of these excellent nuns themselves,

which lining in an ascetic life they see even their basic needs as a luxury!

The monastery was burned, broken, stolen, but always stays here, for some reason!

The miraculous image, which was built on Holy Mount Athos and had been sung

before, for the first time by himself Gabriel the "Axion Esti ..." work of the same, I do

not think it will continue to insist on staying there if the elderly nuns die and can not

accommodate any other nuns...

Certainly the image of the Virgin Kernitsa will go elsewhere, but the sorrow of Mary

will weigh us all ...

Helping these nuns pray for us all, for donorers, helpers, laborers and not only ... and

when we meet up there with our Creator ... something we will have to show Him ...

along of course with our pure soul ...

Do not listen to television and various atheists rulers, the truth is here and we

encourage you to live, up close, because those, the sweetest nuns do not speak ... and

always smiling.

Feel the Divine favor and tell whether it is worth a helping hand, that if we give all of

us, is enough to make beautiful projects without needing more, for our faith and our

true religion, at any monastery or church.

Kernitsa Monastery is one of the holier ... poor monasteries of Arcadia the small

Mount Athos, as we say in our county.
