resource recycle. He was the chairman of 2011 IEEE International conference

on the waste recycling, ecology and environment, vice chairman of the 11th

International Congress of Applied Mineralogy, and committee member of 12th

International Congress of Applied Mineralogy. Editorial board member of Acta

Mineralogica Sinica, Journal of Functional Materials,Bulletin of Mineralogy,

Petrology and Geochemistry.

Director of The Seventh Council Chinese Society for Mineralogy,Petrology

and Geochemistry; vice chairman of Technical Mineral,Mineral physics, Mineral

and Rock materials, Speciality Committee of Chinese Society for Mineralogy,

Petrology and Geochemistry.Executive member of the Sixth Council of the

Chinese Silicates Society, vice chairman of the Non-metallic Mineral Speciality

Committee of Chinese Society for Geology, executive director of Sichuan Young

Scientist United Council, vice director-general of Sichuan Nano-Tech Asso-

ciation Council.Professor Dong has been engaged in teaching and scientific

research of mineral materials, environmental friendly materials, and minerals

application in environmental engineering. He proposed mineral materials idea,

established the applied mineralogy system, put forward the new concept of

mineral ultrafine effect, and cultivate a batch of senior talents of mineral materials.

From the concept of material-ecological environment – health, he created a new

direction of environmental coordinated mineral materials, developed a series

of eco-functional elementary materials and composite ecological building

material products.

He has taken the lead interdisciplinary research about “the nonasbestos fibers

and mineral dust in atmosphere– microorganismnuclide” in domestic, put

forward the concept of fiber total toxicity, model of the interfacial membrane

system and surface medial-matter, and had broken the traditional research model

of fiber dust toxicity which only concentrated on the medical symptoms.

Prof. Dong has public more than 200 articles, including more than 60 have been

had been cited by SCI, EI and ISTP in the fields of fiber surface properties of

minerals, ultrafine processing characteristics, environmental safety assessment,

biological activity on the journal of Bioresource Technology, Geogia Sinica,

Applied Surface Science,Journal of Silicate and other important academic

journals at home and abroad. He has authorized 9 invention patents. His scientific

research and teaching achievements had honored for the science and technology

progress prize in Sichuan province and Shaanxi province. As the first author,

he had edited four monographs: 《Integration Technology of Eco-functional

Elementary Materials and Integration Technology of Composite Building

Materials》 and 《Study on Applied Mineralogy of Fibrous Brucite》etc, three

special issues 《Research on Environmental Mineralogy and Environmental

Medicine》etc . He presided and had finished more than 20 items scientific

projects of National 863 Plan, the National Natural Science Fund of China,

CIDA project, the Ministry of Education, the National Building Materials

Industry Fund Project, the National Bureau's projects and the provincial and

ministerial supported projects etc.
