About YES

Katie began working at the CBC in 1972 on an array of projects. With her first love being jazz, it came naturally when she and producer Alain de Grosbois teamed up in 1983 to create Jazz Beat, a network radio show that combined discs and live recordings. Currently, Katie continues her love affair with jazz as the weekday host of CBC Radio 2’s Tonic, giving her the chance to mingle jazz with some of her other favourite types of music. The show also features latin, soul, and moviemovie music, everything from Tony Bennett to film noir themes, from Erykah Badu to Dexter Gordon. It can be boppish or funky or very ro-mantic, but it MUST have heart and soul.

Katie Malloch has been a jazz fan since her early childhood, thanks to the eclectic musical tastes of her parents.
