Term 2 Week 8

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

Below is a summary of the most recent guidelines that have been issued by the Department of Education and how they are implemented at Belmont North Public School:

School Grounds

There should be no visitors to the school unless they are essential. Please call ahead for instruction before entering onto school grounds. Ph: 49454861

Parents are requested to continue with 'Kiss and Drop' procedures and remain outside the school gates in the mornings and afternoons following social distancing protocols.

Attendance All students should be at school unless: • They have a medical certificate which states that they are unable to return to school due to an ongoing medical condition. • They are currently unwell – 3 days absent in a row will require a medical certificate.

Drop Off & Pick Up

Designated gates for school entry and exit of a morning and afternoon:

• K-2 – Nikkin Street • 3-6 – Darling Street

Old Belmont Road Gate will be open for student-only access. Do not use the carpark entrances under any circumstance. This is for staff only.

If you have children in multiple grades, please use the Darling Street gate. If you require your child to enter/exit through another gate, please let your class teacher know.

Semester 1 Reports

Your child has been assessed during the learning from home period and has received additional assessment since returning to school.

• You will receive your child’s Semester 1 Report by the end of Week 3 Term 3. • This will be a simplified version of the report you normally receive. • Parent teacher conferences will take place in Week 4 Term 3. (Phone conference at this stage)

School Activities allowed from Monday 15th June (Remainder of Term 2)

• School Assemblies - BNPS will continue with virtual assemblies in Term 2 via Zoom • Sport remains non-contact • Dance groups, choir and band rehearsal (safety protocols in place) • External providers can work with children on site (complying with safety guidelines)

School Activities allowed from the beginning of Term 3

• Scripture • P&C Meetings (preference online where possible) • School assemblies (limited to 15 minutes and no external visitors) • All school sport and activities including competitions aligned with current health advice (including

those activities run by external organisations) • Inter-school student events and competitions (choirs, sport, debating, public speaking, performing

arts, Selective Sports High School trials etc)

School Activities under consideration from Term 3

• Parent volunteers in classrooms (Canteen and uniform shop are permitted) • School based activities that involve large groups • School camps and excursions • Parent attendance at assemblies and other school events

Students must continue to follow good hygiene practices

• Regularly wash hands • Avoid sharing drinks • Cough or sneeze into elbows or tissues • Bring a drink bottle every day

Additional cleaning in line with the AHPPC guidelines and advice from NSW Health is in place across the school for the remainder of Term 2 and Term 3. Targeted areas include high-touch areas and other hard surfaces, door handles, light switches and handrails.

P & C NEWS

P&C MEETING - The next P&C Meeting will be held on Tuesday 11th August. Time to be confirmed in the Library. Getting involved in your child's school can be a rewarding experience. There are many types of school activities and parents/caregivers are always welcome to participate.

Breakfast Club Has Resumed: Monday, Wednesday and Friday Mornings

The wonderful Mrs Nash and Mrs Freund have resumed breakfast club on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 8:30am starting this week to an overwhelming response from students. Lots of yummy toast, fruit and milk.

Canteen Opening Hours Term 2

The canteen will resume operations from Wednesday 10th June for ONLINE LUNCH ORDERS ONLY. NO CASH ORDERS.

The canteen will be open Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays ONLY.

There will be a limited menu. Lunch Orders will need to be submitted by 8am the day the lunch order is required.

The canteen WILL NOT be open to students at lunch and recess to make purchases.

UNIFORM SHOP – The uniform shop is currently filling ONLINE ORDERS ONLY on a Monday and Wednesday morning. These orders need to be placed before 8am for your child to receive it on these days. The My School Connect App is aimed to make it easier for parents to purchase school uniforms online, via a simple and easy to use system from your desktop, mobile or tablet. Just create an account and your child’s school uniform can be delivered to their classroom to take home or to the school office for a parent to collect. Virtual Assemblies

The last few Fridays our school leaders have 'Zoomed' around the school to hear from all classes and teachers as part of our weekly virtual assembly. It has been wonderful to see students recognised for their achievements and celebrated by their peers. Well done leaders on a fabulous job hosting our zoom online assemblies.

Year 6 Fundraiser – Hot Chocolate Drinks, Every Tuesday. Each year our Year 6 students hold several fundraising activities throughout the year to raise money for the Year 6 Farewell and the gift to the school.

Starting on Tuesday 23rd June, Year6 and their teachers will be selling a cup of hot chocolate for 50c at lunch time from the verandah.

If your child would like a cup of hot chocolate each Tuesday, please send them with 50c.

This will run every Tuesday until September.
