26 November 2014 ____________________ ____________________ ____________________ Dear _______________: The Katipunan ng mga Sangguniang Mag-aaral sa UP (KASAMA sa UP), founded in 1981, is the sole system-wide alliance of student councils in the University of the Philippines. Among many things, KASAMA sa UP is the product of the re- establishment of student councils in the system during the tumultuous Martial Law years. Our colorful history is marked with countless breakthroughs and victories, both inside and outside the University. To this day, the Alliance commits itself to an active engagement of the various issues and concerns of the different sectors in the society, forwarding institutional policies and reforms grounded on the people’s genuine interest. For thirty-three years now, KASAMA sa UP maintains a tradition of uncompromising leadership in the ranks of the Iskolar ng Bayan. And as we continue to advocate responsive, progressive, and nationalist leadership, the Alliance is set to hold its annual National Councils Meet this coming January 6-8, 2015, at the University of the Philippines Cebu. Dubbed as TAKE BACK THE FUTURE: Iskolar ng Bayan, now UPrising! this three-day activity seeks to further broaden unity and forge more formidable bonds among student leaders as we table all upcoming activities for the remainder of the academic year. It is in this light that we deem such activity meritorious of your kind attention. But, as we are constrained in sourcing funds for this gathering, we respectfully appeal to your generosity so that we may be able to sustain the logistical needs of our delegates. Any amount of financial assistance will surely be of much help to UP’s student leaders. We have attached here a copy of the provisional program, breakdown, and summary of expenses of the UP Visayas College of Arts and Sciences Student Council.
