MAS implements the SunGuideSM message priority algorithm

Default priorities (1 to 256 possible values):– 1: default for “manually created messages”– 2 – 255: used for message priorities in response plans

When an operator or subsystem generates a message request (for either a DMS or HAR device), it is routed to MAS for queuing

SunGuideSM implements a set of messaging rules known as the “Southeast Florida Message” rules

Basic format (varies based on sign geometry):– 1st line What (Location)– 2nd line Where (Problem)– 3rd line When or Reference Location (Location)

When a response plan is generated, the recommended messages will be based on these rules

Response plans are RECOMMENDATIONS – the operator decides the final content of ALL messages


DMS Sign Selection AlgorithmDMS Sign Selection Algorithm

Signs are selected a “configurable” distance down any roadways leading to the event

Distance varies based on “severity”:– Level 1: least severe– Level 2: moderate– Level 3: most severe

Priority of each message increases with distance from event, priority is calculated as “2 + miles the DMS is from the event location”

Note: many of the sign selection criteria are configurable and can be changed by the SunGuideSM administrator

Warning: Selecting “local roads” will significntly increase the map load time (once loaded, performance is fast – load could take “minutes” based on Server and Network speed)

Move a Camera (Pan, Tilt, Zoom, Focus, Iris):– Toggle the joystick (left/right, up/down) to adjust camera

pan/tilt.– Twist the joystick (clockwise/counterclockwise) to adjust

camera zoom.– Press the focus NEAR or FAR keys to adjust camera

focus.– Press the iris CLOSE or OPEN keys to adjust camera iris.

Override a Camera Lock:– Press the F1 key.

the keypad.– Press the SHIFT and PRESET keys simultaneously.

Move to a Specified Camera Preset:– Enter the 2 digit numeric preset identifier (1-99) using

Move to Next Camera Preset:– Press the SEQUENCE key. The selected camera will be

moved to the next preset in the list of defined presets, starting with the first preset in the list. When the last preset in the list is reached, the key function is disabled. To re-enable it and reset it to the first preset, the camera must be reselected.
