category. Oversized nine-patch units framed by gray and white rectangles make up the block.

It’s simple, but so effective.

Finished Size: 74" × 82"

Finished Blocks: 56 (10") blocks

Materials

1¼ yards pink print for blocks

1¼ yards orange print for blocks

¾ yard light orange print for binding3⁄8 yard yellow print for blocks

15⁄8 yards gray solid for blocks

3 yards white solid for blocks and

borders

5¼ yards backing fabric

82" × 90" rectangle of quilt batting

CuttingMeasurements include ¼" seam

allowances. Border strips are exact

length needed. You may want to

make them longer to allow for

piecing variations.

From pink print, cut:

• 16 (2½"-wide) strips for strip sets.

From orange print, cut:


From light orange print, cut:

• 9 (2¼"-wide) strips for binding.

From yellow print, cut:


From gray solid, cut:



From white solid, cut:

• 35 (2½"-wide) strips. From 31

strips, cut 64 (2½" × 10½") B

rectangles and 56 (2½" × 8½") A

rectangles. Piece remaining strips to

make 1 (2½" × 80½") side border

and 1 (2½" × 74½") bottom

border.

• 8 (1½"-wide) strips for strips sets.

Quilt Top Assembly Diagram

Quilt Assembly1. Lay out blocks and remaining

white B rectangles as shown in

2. Join into rows; join rows to

complete quilt center.

3. Add white side border to quilt

center. Add white bottom border

to quilt.

Finishing1. Divide backing into 2 (25⁄8-yard)

lengths. Join panels lengthwise.

2. Layer backing, batting, and quilt

top; baste. Quilt as desired.

3. Join 2¼"-wide light orange print

strips into 1 continuous piece for

straight-grain French-fold binding.

Add binding to quilt.
