The Sun-Kissed Vale,Land of the Fungi

FolkThe Sun-Kissed Vale is a realm ofmagically evolved mushroomscalled Fungi Folk. Some of thesecreatures are just unintelligentmonsters. But many haveabsorbed intelligence, literacyand tool use from neighboringhuman, hobgoblin, wood elf andgoblin cultures.

The Vale is a forested area, richin magical energies and naturalresources, and thus attracts allsorts of adventurers andexplorers. The Fungi Folk resentthese intrusions but, at the sametime, they are curious about theways of the intruders.

Worse than this, manyhumanoids consider it fair gameto eat the mushroom men. Foodconnoisseurs and chefs,especially humans and halflings,come to pick rare mushroomsand truffles for demanding andrich customers. Many a FungiFolk has ended up as maincourse on a king’s table.Inevitably, conflict arises, andskirmishes are fought, creatingplenty of opportunities forroleplaying adventures.

You will notice that there is noscale to the map. Details aboutnumbers, distances andpopulation are left vague. This isintentional so you can make theSun-Kissed Vale as big or smallas you desire. As a suggestion,one inch on the map could equal50 miles and the two majorcitadels, Timberheart and theAugust Palace, could have apopulation of about 2500 and1000 fungus folk respectively.This scale gives plenty of spacefor exploration, but is only oneof many possible interpretations.
