The protests shut down roads affecting the supply chain to the United States. It is possible that this will result in a tightened supply and price increase. * Frost Kissed Artichokes: Frost Kissed Artichokes: When the temperature drops below 32 degrees artichokes become “Frost Kissed”. The outer layers start to turn brown and can flake and peel. Although they might not look pretty, the frost enhances the flavor resulting in a nutty taste. Once the artichokes are cooked the brown color disappears. Following a freeze the plants take two to three weeks to start producing “Frost Free” artichokes again. * Sloop your Kiwi! Kiwifruit are actually a berry: Kiwis, similar to kiwi berries, grow on vines like grapes. California produces 98% of all Kiwifruit grown in the US with growers in the Central Valley up through the San Joaquin Valley and ending north of Sacramento. Do you know how to “Sloop your Kiwi”? Using a sharp knife, slice the kiwifruit lengthwise to create two identi- cal halves. Then use a spoon to scoop the sweet fruit from each half. Don’t throw away the skin. It is loaded with nutrients and fiber, so rinse it off and bite right in. All items are subject to availability. Please add a $1 delivery fee when applicable.
