Program Information

The Somers Recreation Department reserves the right to

reschedule, relocate, or cancel any announced program due

to facility availability and public response. The Recreation

Department may also establish minimum or maximum class

sizes to ensure appropriate instructor-to-participant ratios

Registration Information

Register online for all programs unless otherwise specified.

To register:

1) Visit our website and Login as Member, or Register as

New Member. Input your information, choose the program(s)

you wish to register for, and pay by credit card.

2) Walk in registration during office hours at 93 Egypt Rd.

3)Registration is accepted on a first come, first serve basis

Payment

Payment must be made in full at the time of registration

without exception. We accept cash and checks made payable

to Town of Somers.

Non-Residents

Non-residents are eligible for programs unless otherwise

noted. Separate fees for non-residents exist for select

programs and activities.

Refunds

Somers Recreation Department does not issue refunds once

you have registered for a program, unless there is an injury or

illness which prohibits active participation in the program and

is documented by a physician. No refunds will be issued

without a Refund Request Form. If a refund is granted, the

amount will be pro-rated to reflect the number of remaining

days from the date the Refund Request was submitted.

Photo Policy

Any photograph taken of any participants in a Somers

Recreation Department program or activity maybe be used for

publication or marketing purposes. Any participant, or parent

of youth participant who wishes to not have a photograph

used must notify the Rec Department in writing.

Facility Rentals

Connor’s Place The Somers Recreation Department offers rentals of the Pavilion & Gazebo

at Connor’s Place at Field Road Park throughout the Spring, Summer, and

Fall seasons. Perfect for your upcoming birthday parties, family event, or

business outing. Rental availability is dependent on Park scheduling. If you

are interested in renting either of the facilities at Connor’s Place please

contact the Somers Recreation Department at 860-265-3840.

Kibbe Fuller Community Center

The Kibbe Fuller Community Center is a historic Somers building. Meeting

rooms and the auditorium are available for rental by Town boards and

commissions, civic groups, athletic associations, advisory groups, and

independent organizations. For fees and other information please call 860-

265-3840.

Kibbe Fuller Gazebo Located on the Town Common, situated between the Kibbe Fuller

Community Center and the Somers Senior Center. Available for rental

with a close proximity to the Battle Street Playground. Call 860-265-3840

with questions or to make your reservation.

Weather Cancellation Policy

The Somers Recreation Department follows the Somers School District inclement weather policy. So, if

schools are closed, recreational activities and rentals are cancelled. Tune into WFSB Channel 3 for the most

recently updated information. Also, cancellations due to weather will be posted to the Somers Recreation

Facebook Page and/or the Somers Recreation RecDesk website.

Community Events

CELEBRATE SOMERS Golf Tournament Somers Recreation Department proudly partners with Cedar Knob Golf Course to offer

the first annual Celebrate Somers Golf Tournament at Cedar Knob Golf Course on

Saturday, June 25, 2016. Register and pay online at somers.recdesk.com. Four person

scramble format. Dinner buffet for all participants and awards following the tournament.

Cost is $110 per player. Proceeds support Somers Parks and Recreation.

Somers Elementary & Middle School PTO Carnival Event The Somers Elementary School PTO hosts this event for Somers Elementary School

students and their families on Friday, May 20 (May 21 rain date) from 5:30-8pm at

Field Road Park. The event will feature a dunk tank, food, bounce houses, clown,

game booth, music, and more.

Summer Concert Series

The 2016 Summer Concert Series presented by the Somers Cultural Commission

begins June 30. Come spend Thursday nights under the stars at the Gazebo on the

Common. Come early with the kids to play on the Battle Street Playground.

Concerts start at 7:00PM. The 2016 Summer Concert Series schedule:

-June 30: JIMMY MAZZ– Special Variety Show

-July 7: THE WINDHAM CONCERT BAND- American Classics

-July 14: MIXED SIGNALS– 50’s, 60’s, 70’s Rock & Roll

-July 21: RUCKUS– Country Western

-July 28: AIRBORNE– Jazz/Motown/R&B/Island music

-August 4: HEARTLAND- Dixieland

-August 11: CORY and the KNIGHTSMEN– 50’s,60’s,70’s Rock & Roll

Somers Great Escape 5K Road Race The 17th annual Somers Great Escape 5K Road Race will take place Saturday,

September 17 at Somers High School. Come enjoy a USATF certified course that

winds through the scenic landscape of Somers. Immediately after the race, take in

the parade and then head to the historic 4 Town Fair for food, rides, games, and a

“free beverage for a race bib” at the beer garden. Hosted by the Somers Rotary.

Somers Day Camp

Who: Ages 5-12

When: Monday through Friday

8 consecutive weeks beginning June 27

Time: 8:30am-4:00pm (extended care available)

Fee: $170 residents; $180 non residents

What: The Somers Day Camp offers endless

opportunities for your child to have a fun and

memorable camp experience. The Somers Day Camp

is designed to spark your child’s imagination, grow

new friendships, and assist him/her in discovering new

talents every day.

Somers Small Fry Camp

Who: Ages 3-6 When: Monday-Friday;

5 consecutive weeks beginning July 11

Time: 9am-12pm Fee: $80 residents; $85 non

Where: Somers Elementary School

What: We invite our youngest campers to Small Fry

Camp! Campers will experience different themes and

days filled with songs, games, snacks, arts & crafts,

and indoor & outdoor activities.

SOMLAX Lacrosse Camp

Who: Boys & Girls entering grades 4-6 & 7-9

When: July 11-14 Where: MBA Fields

Time: 8:30am-11:30am Fee: $130 *includes jersey

Donny Marshall Basketball Camp

Who: Boys & Girls / 8 to 17 When: July 18-21

Discover Golf Camp at Cedar Knob

What: Is your child interested in learning a game he/

she can play for a lifetime from a professional? Somers

Rec is partnering with Cedar Knob Golf Course to offer

the “Discover Golf” Camp. Learn the fundamentals of

golf from a PGA professional while making new friends

Somers Art Camp The 2016 Somers Art Camp will run for 4 weeks from July

5-July 30. The program features classes for Elementary,

Middle, and Adult ages. Cost per class varies. Morning (9-

11:30am) & afternoon (12-2:30) sessions available.

Students taking morning & afternoon classes will have a

half hour supervised lunch break. See table below or visit

Tennis for Life Camp

Who: Ages 6-14 Time: 9:15-12:15 Where: Field Road

Cost: $95 When: Mon-Fri Park Tennis Courts

Adult CoEd Summer Softball League

Who: Anyone 18 & up

Where: Field Road Park

When: League play begins May 8 and runs through

August.. Games are played Tuesdays, Thursdays &

Sundays. Schedules will vary by team.

What: Mixed E CoEd softball league promoting

active participation, fun, and friendly competition.

Adult CoEd Kickball League

Who: Anyone 18 & Up Where: Field Rd. Park

When: Sundays beginning May 8

Cost: $30/player Register by: May 6

What: Kickball is not just for kids! Join us at Field

Road Park for our inaugural season of the Somers

Adult CoEd Kickball League. Teams will play 6

regular season games. The season will end with one

day, winner-take-all tournament. Sign up online as

a single, part of a small group, or as a part of a full

team. Minimum of 6 teams required for league to

Adult CoEd Fall Softball League

Who: Anyone 18 & up

Where: Field Road Park

When: League play begins mid September (final date

TBD) and runs into November. Games every Sunday.

Kripalu Yoga

What: Join certified Kripalu yoga instructor Diana

Gunther in a stimulating and fun class designed to

strengthen, tone, increase flexibility, and improve

the function of all body systems. You’ll enjoy the

benefits after your very first class. Easy to follow

instruction & a down-to-earth atmosphere.

Summer Series Weekly 5K

Who: All ages welcomed Where: Field Road Park

When: Wednesday nights from July 13 to August 17

*July 13 is fun run; run for free and experience the course

Cost: Adults $5 online or cash at door

Children 10 & under FREE

What: The Somers Summer Series is a fun, family

friendly, weekly race at Field Road Park. A great way

to get in shape for the Somers Great Escape Road

Race. Weekly prizes given to Top-3 Male & Female

finishers & top Somers resident. Proceeds support

improvement of XC course at Park. Playground and

bathrooms on site!

Gentle Yoga

Who: All ages welcome Where: Kibbe Fuller

When: Tuesday mornings 9:15-10:15

Instructor: Pat Baker

Cost: Rates vary contact Somers Rec

What: Kripalu certified instructor Pat Baker teaches

a gentle, therapeutic yoga that is designed for

individuals who have little or no experienced, or the

or the experienced yogi to safely explore one’s

practice. Participants will learn breathing techniques

while doing basic yoga postures

Step Aerobics

Who: All ages Where: Kibbe Fuller

When: Tuesday and Friday mornings 8:30-9:15

What: Low impact class designed to strengthen the

body, reduce stress & promote mental and physical

health
