Something for Everyone All Summer Long! Note: These events are specific to the Claremont Branch Library. For a system-wide list, please see our monthly newsleer or the other branch- specific flyers. Books Between Friends Book Club Join us for a lively discussion of Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate. Music & Sound Coding Learn how computer programming is used to create music, including DJ mixing, movie sound effects, and music composion. Projects will include building an interacve music display and creang a music video. We’ll be using the Google CS First curriculum in the eight-week coding series. Please register to aend. Rock Painng and Stacking Paint your own “kindness rock” and then parcipate as a team to balance as many rocks as you can. Once you’re finished, take your rock home or leave it somewhere for others to find. Ages 13-18. Materials supplied. Songwriters Workshop Join local singer, songwriter, and musician AJ Herrick as he discusses the various paths you can take to create your own masterpiece. Bring your ideas, instruments, and in-progress wring. Ideal for adults and young adults. Summer Learning Celebraon Party Celebrate the end of Summer Learning by turning in your completed summer reading log! Drop in for an ice cream treat and enjoy an augmented reality acvity where you can watch your coloring sheets come to life. Leave with a temporary taoo that you can turn into a hologram. Turning in your completed reading log gets you entered into the drawing for prizes! Technology Tutoring Call the library to book a help session with a librarian if you’re learning a new skill or need help with a technology problem. Bring your own device or learn on one of ours. Teen Vocal Visualizer Engineer a vocal visualizer using PVC pipe and laser pointers to explore and actually see sound! Then create a dazzling laser light show using vibraons. If you’re interested in music, nkering, engineering, or physics, join us and bring a friend. Ages 13-18 are welcome. Lunch at the Library A free lunch for children 2-18 will be provided at the Claremont branch when requested, Tue-Fri from noon-2pm. Please contact the library for details. Green Bean Players The Commedia Cinderella The touring group of the Green Room Community Theatre will perform their hilarious version of the fairytale classic, complete with fun costumes and crazy hijinks. Schiele Museum of Natural History Sounds of Nature Learn the variety of sounds made by animals and why they make them. Live animals will be a part of this program! Hickory Music Factory Percussion Experience Hickory Music Factory will set up a drum circle, and children will have the opportunity to learn about African drumming and parcipate themselves. SUMMER LEARNING 2018 Jon Sundell Rockin’ the Library Stories, songs, slides, balloons, and books! Jon incorporates music and mulcultural stories throughout this program.
