Books Between Friends Book ClubJoin us for a lively discussion of Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate.

Music & Sound CodingLearn how computer programming is used to create music, including DJ mixing, movie sound eff ects, and music compositi on. Projects will include building an interacti ve music display and creati ng a music video. We’ll be using the Google CS First curriculum in the eight-week coding series. Please register to att end.

Rock Painti ng and StackingPaint your own “kindness rock” and then parti cipate as a team to balance as many rocks as you can. Once you’re fi nished, take your rock home or leave it somewhere for others to fi nd. Ages 13-18. Materials supplied.

Songwriters WorkshopJoin local singer, songwriter, and musician AJ Herrick as he discusses the various paths you can take to create your own masterpiece. Bring your ideas, instruments, and in-progress writi ng. Ideal for adults and young adults.

Summer Learning Celebrati on PartyCelebrate the end of Summer Learning by turning in your completed summer reading log! Drop in for an ice cream treat and enjoy an augmented reality acti vity where you can watch your coloring sheets come to life. Leave with a temporary tatt oo that you can turn into a hologram. Turning in your completed reading log gets you entered into the drawing for prizes!

Technology TutoringCall the library to book a help session with a librarian if you’re learning a new skill or need help with a technology problem. Bring your own device or learn on one of ours.

Teen Vocal VisualizerEngineer a vocal visualizer using PVC pipe and laser pointers to explore and actually see sound! Then create a dazzling laser light show using vibrati ons. If you’re interested in music, ti nkering, engineering, or physics, join us and bring a friend. Ages 13-18 are welcome.

Lunch at the LibraryA free lunch for children 2-18 will be provided at the Claremont branch when requested, Tue-Fri from noon-2pm. Please contact the library for details.

Green Bean Players The Commedia CinderellaThe touring group of the Green Room Community Theatre will perform their hilarious version of the fairytale classic, complete with fun costumes and crazy hijinks.

Schiele Museum of Natural HistorySounds of NatureLearn the variety of sounds made by animals and why they make them. Live animals will be a part of this program!

Hickory Music Factory Percussion ExperienceHickory Music Factory will set up a drum circle, and children will have the opportunity to learn about African drumming and parti cipate themselves.

SUMMER LEARNING 2018Jon SundellRockin’ the Library Stories, songs, slides, balloons, and books! Jon incorporates music and multi cultural stories throughout this program. Each child receives a balloon animal.
