Learning Chinesein TAIWAN

Taiwan is an ideal place for international students who want to learn Mandarin Chinese, also called Mandarin, Huayu, Guoyu, Hanyu, Putonghua, and Zhongwen in Chinese-speaking communities around the world, and Modern Standard Chinese. Taiwan is also an ideal place to learn to read and write Chinese characters, something that will enable you to communicate, in writing, with people who speak other Chinese dialects. The traditional character forms are still used in Taiwan. Learning these is essential for any student who plans to become a translator and they allow you to more fully appreciate the Chinese language, across the centuries.

There are 52 Chinese Language Centers located at colleges and universities throughout Taiwan, offering classes year-round. The instruction and teaching materials are top-notch and designed to help students achieve their language goals. INTRODUCTION

National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) was originally founded in Shanghai in 1896 under the name of Nanyang College, and it shares the same origin as the Jiaotong Universities in mainland China. In 1958, NCTU was re-established in Hsinchu, Taiwan. The University has been the forerunner of science and technology. Subsequently, it has laid a firm foundation for the Hsinchu Science Park (HSP), the “Silicon Valley” of Taiwan.

INTRODUCTION

Founded in 1995 in Puli, Nantou, National Chi Nan University (NCNU) thrives as a green, young and dynamic academic sanctuary in the geographical heart of Taiwan. INTRODUCTION

Founded in 1991, National Yunlin University of Science and Technology (YunTech) has become a university paradigm for other technological universities nationwide under the leadership of the former presidents and the current president, Dr. Yang Neng-Shu. YunTech is a flagship technological university with four colleges, the College of Engineering, College of Management, College of Design, and College of Humanities and Applied Sciences. Bringing Nanhua to the World and the World to Nanhua

INTRODUCTION

Located in Chiayi, Taiwan, Nanhua University was founded in 1996 by Venerable Master Hsing Yun. Through the support of millions of Fo Guang Shan worshippers, the first comprehensive university of Fo Guang Shan was funded. The school is also a member of “Fo Guang Shan’s Associated Universities,” the country’s first cross-nation university system. Currently, the school has about 5,500 students and a strong faculty of 220 full-time teachers. The proportion of assistant professors to full-time teachers above is more than 96%, and the proportion of doctorates among them is 91%, which means the school ranks among the top private universities.

INTRODUCTION

National Chiayi University was formed in February 2000 by merging two existing colleges in Chiayi, i.e., National Chiayi Institute of Technology (NCIT) and National Chiayi Teachers College (NCTC). The University now has seven colleges, which include 7 doctoral programsw, 42 full-time master’s degree programs, and 39 undergraduate programs.

NCYU is one of the oldest and largest universities in the southern part of Taiwan, covering wide range of domains, including of life Science, Veterinary Medicine, Agriculture, Management, Science and Engineering, Humanities and Arts, and Education.

INTRODUCTION

National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) was established in 1931. It is renowned for engineering, technology, architectural design and medical teaching and research. INTRODUCTION

STUST is composed of 4 Colleges-College of Engineering, College of Business, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and College of Digital Design with 28 undergraduate, 27 master, and 4 doctoral programs. Over 18,000 students enrolled, ranked the 6th largest of the country, 500 of them are international students from 35 different countries. With 561 full-time faculty, over 80% of whom are assistant professors or higher.

Cheers Magazine announced from 2009 to 2016 that STUST is the top private technical university favored by enterprises. STUST has signed academic agreement with 223 partner universities from 32 countries, with 12 double degree programs.
