Feedback
Q. What is Feedback?
A. Feedback is information that a performer receives about their performance.
FEEDBACK
Feedback should be given immediately if possible.
Feedback should start with a positive comment followed by areas to improve on.
Why do you think feedback should be immediate and start positively?
There are two main types of feedback. EXTERNAL and INTERNAL.
External feedback can be information received from a coach, teacher or classmate/partner etc. A ‘checklist’ (written) or video (visual) can be used to help record performance.
External feedback can also come in the form of ‘knowledge of results’. E.g. How many goals/baskets you score from a set number of attempts.
Internal feedback (or ‘kinaesthetic’ or ‘intrinsic’ feedback), is information concerning the ‘feel’ of the movement. E.g. Whether or not you are balanced in a headstand.
Task: Describe a situation when you have received written and visual feedback.
