“On August 28, 2005, Metropolitan Nicholas

of the American Carpatho-Russian

Orthodox Diocese of the USA proclaimed that starting in 2006 the Second Sunday after

Pentecost will be commemorated as the Synaxis of the

Carpatho-Rusyn Saints of the Holy Orthodox

Faith.”

Last Sunday following Divine

Liturgy, newborn child Natalie Anne Stack, daughter of

Matthew & Nicole Stack, was Baptized,

Chrismated, & Communed into

the fullness of the Orthodox Faith. It was a joyous

celebration with family and friends

in attendance.

The young women from the Young Women’s Encounter welcome home our own Bishop Gregory, who was given the

great honor of being chosen to participate in the Holy & Great Council of the Orthodox Church! The encounter for

the young women of our parishes was a success, attended by our own Pani Ileana Bennett.

The Altar Boy Retreat was a great success as well! It was attended by dozens of young men from across the diocese.

Fr. William Bennett and Altar Server Alexander Ioukliaevskikh were also in attendance.

- Above, Alex shares his experiences with his peers about his

involvement with the Boys Club, in connection with the week’s theme: Faith & Works.

A REMINDER THAT HUNGER DOESN’T TAKE A VACATION What child doesn’t count the days until summer vacation? Yet, for food insecure families, the reality of adding breakfast and lunch to their already tight budgets can lead to summer hunger for many school-age children who received one or two meals at school. Food banks become depleted of food, often before July.

For this reason, we will be collecting food through the summer in #2 Hall. If you can’t get to the grocery store, please consider making a monetary donation to Bob Zizik. He volunteers at the food pantry and can purchase items that are of greatest need.

GOLDEN JEWELS DAY – Thank you’s What a joy to share in the celebration! Seniors whose love and labor sowed the seeds of St. Nicholas Church along with youth who reap the benefits and return their love in song - "You are ALL my Sunshine!" Love in Christ, Mary Ann Bulko To the Golden Jewels Celebration Committee, Thank you for hosting one of the happiest days of my life by allowing me and my wife to be with childhood friends and the parishioners of St. Nicholas of Myra Church. From the moment we entered the building, we were treated like royalty. Every little detail of the day was handled with care and love. It will be a day we will never forget. The blessing by Father meant a lot and the wonderful luncheon which followed rated 5 stars in our book. Many thanks for the video presentation which brought back memories of the old neighborhood. We wish St. Nicholas Church a long future filled with joy and laughter. God Bless you All. George & Mary Ann Vislocky THE WORK AND EFFORT PUT INTO THE

GOLDEN JEWELS CELEBRATION, SEVERAL WEEKS AGO, HAS INSPIRED MANY AND CONTINUES TO BRING A

RETURN OF SPIRITUAL GIFT. FOR OUR HONOREES, ALLTHEIR LOVED

ONES, AND THOSE WHO PUT IN THE WORK & SUPPORT, WE ASK GOD’S

CONTINUED BLESSINGS!
