EDITION 1146 Sunday, February 15, 2015Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time
FROM THE PASTOR:
Where do we meet God? It is my firm conviction thatwe have the potential to experience God virtually all the time– in every moment of our lives. In reality, those moments arerecognized all too infrequently. Now, I can only reflect on myown life, but I know that I have had some powerful momentsof meeting God. It is such experiences that encourage me to be ever more aentive to God’s presence in my life – to lookfor Him.
Where have you met God? What have you sought todo that opens such a possibility? One occasion that helps somany people do this is a retreat – a time to get away from ourregular daily routine and open our minds and hearts to God.Every year, when I go to Haiti, I experience God powerfully, and so that pilgrimage is an important retreat for me. Againand again, members of our parish have found the ChristRenews His Parish (CRHP) experience to be an importantencounter with God. These CRHP Retreats (we say “chirpretreats”) are peer-led and a powerful experience of meetingGod.
If you haven’t gone on one, why haven’t you? Theytake place right here in our own parish and involves oneweekend that can change your life. As I write that, I realize itmight sound a lile scary (“I don’t want to become some kind ofholy roller!”). But I will tell you that to meet God is toexperience a freedom and joy that is beyond measure.
So, look for the courage to say “yes” when you hearthe next invitation. God’s generosity can never be outdone.Let Him give Himself to you. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is
knocking at your door. Will you have the courage to open it?Peace and Love, Fr. Dan

QUESTION for the upcoming WEEK: The Gospel for next week, February 22, the First Sunday of Lent, isMark 1:12-15 (Jesus’ temptation and the call to conversion). As you read the Scriptures this week, you may want to think about thefollowing questions: Adults: When or how could you step away from your dailyresponsibilities to renew yourself, so that you can do a better job offollowing in the footsteps of Jesus?
Children: What good habit could you work on during Lent so youcould grow closer to God?
From Heritage of Faith, by Jo Rotunno
Faith Formation Catechist of the Week
Our Catechist of the Week is Joanne Rosel , who is a 2nd gradecatechist in our elementary program this year. This is Joanne’sfourth year working as a catechist, and she has previously workedwith our Life Teen and EDGE youth. Joanne is married and has twochildren. She works as a pharmaceutical representative and enjoysrunning road races and cooking in her spare time. In answer to thequestion of why she became a catechist, Joanne replied, “I aendedChrist Renews His Parish renewal weekend 19 and strengthenedmy faith and resolve to get more involved in the outreachprograms at St. Michael.” Her favorite topic to learn about as achild in Catholic school was Mary and the saints, and she was in-spired by how powerful their faith was. Joanne’s favorite Scriptureverse is from St. Paul’s leer to the Corinthians: “Let he who feelsthat his is standing upright, watch out lest he fall.” Two things shewould like her 2nd graders to “take away” from their year in hergroup are “Jesus loves you no maer what! Talk to Jesus every day,and He will listen to you. Say a prayer every day!” To encourage aperson to become a catechist, Joanne would tell them, “It’s likemost things you put your heart and energy into. You’ll get moreout of it than you put into it! It’s very rewarding!”

MARRIAGE MOMENTS
Lent begins this Wednesday.Sure, celebrate Mardi Gras on Tuesday but start thinkingnow of a meaningful Lenten practice. Why not choose at
least one penance that both of you will do. It canreinforce your decision and bond you in a common effort.
PARENTING POINTERS: Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, which begins Lent.
But before Lent comes, Tuesday is Mardi Gras.I guess it is human nature to want to splurge before
taking on a sacrifice. Decide a family penance for Lent, but plan a family treat for Tuesday.
CRHP Renewal Weekend registration is now open!
Join the more than 1,000 St. Michael parishioners who have completed one of the parish'smost successful adult faith formation programs!
For two days, men and women take the time to reflect on how they have been able to apply faith and scripture to deal with the very real problems and challenges that come with daily living.Chances are you will find yourself inspired, moved, and most importantly, challenged to explore the
role of faith in your own personal situation. No matter where you are in your personal faith journey, you will end upcelebrating the weekend where God meets you where you are!

After months of hunting, theyrealized that they might have to try and purchase a home. With that in mind, theyhave set up a GoFundMe account with the hope of raising enough money tomake that happen.
