Growing in FaithTM ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

No Guesswork Involved ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Followers of Christ never have to rely on guesswork to decide what is right. We have a perfect example for our daily lives in Jesus. And to guide us, he gave us the Catholic Church.

“A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you; and I will take out of your flesh the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh” (Ezekiel 36:26).

~~GIF, April 2018 Issue

Greetings in our Risen Lord! Hopefully, we’ve seen the last of winter like weather for quite a while and we can get on with spring! It certainly would help not having to cancel/re-schedule so much. First Communion practices: For St. Dominic parish, 6:30 PM, Thursday, April 26th. For St. Magdalen parish, 7 PM, Friday, April 27th. First Communion Masses: For St. Magdalen parish, 6:30 PM, Saturday, April 28th.

For St. Dominic parish, 8:30 AM, Sunday, April 29th. ******************************************* There will NOT be Mass/Confessions at St. Magdalen parish on Thursday, April 26th due to the First Communion practice at St. Dominic parish that evening. There WILL be a regularly scheduled 10:30 AM Mass on Sunday, April 29th at St. Magdalen parish. The Saturday, 6:30 PM Mass on the 28th of April is an add on because of the blessing of having twenty First Communion candidates! Thank you to everyone who helps prepare these children for their First Communion including those who have been providing prayer support. For those students (3rd grade and older) who are receiving Mass server training for the first time, I require each to serve at two weekday Masses prior to being put on the weekend schedule. Parents please take note and see to it that your child seeking to be a Mass server gets those opportunities during weekday Masses once school is out. During the week of Totus Tuus, some can serve during those weekday Masses, also. Please call the parish office and let us know ahead of time if a student is coming, so I can go over some points prior to that particular weekday Mass. St. Dominic parish had their initial instruction time. St. Magdalen parish will have theirs starting at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, April 25th. Easter blessings, Fr. Rader

Heavenly Father…Give us love for all people, especially the most vulnerable, and help us bear witness

to the truth that every life is worth living.

USCCB Secretariat of Pro-Life Activities “Every Life is Worth Living” Prayer Card, www.usccb.org/worth-living

Today—the Church throughout the world prays for vocations.

Will you make a special effort to ask the Lord for

more vocations to the priesthood and

religious life?

Pray for the priests who have ministered to you throughout your life, both living and dead.

Keep our parish priests in your prayers throughout the week.

Encourage your children, grandchildren, or other young people to consider a vocation as a priest or religious brother or sister.

Pray a rosary for more young men and women in our diocese to respond to God’s call.

LTPTM—Reflecting & Living on the Word John 10:14-16

[Jesus said:] I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the

Father; and I will lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold. These also I

must lead, and they will hear my voice, and there will be one flock, one shepherd.

The Good Shepherd provides an example of leadership that shows compassion, care, and concern. There is an intimacy in the “knowing” that this shepherd has of his sheep. How different are the attributes shown here than the image of other leaders? Do we see compassion as a strength or weakness in today’s workplace, on the gym floor, or in the classroom? The goals of a shepherd focus on the sheep not the wool they will produce. Shepherds must tend and care for sheep daily without fail, for the wolves do not take a day off.

What is an example of a leader who is like a good shepherd?

How do you care for God’s creation? Today is Earth Day and one of our responsibilities as people of faith is to care for the earth and all of God’s creation. Much like a shepherd tends his sheep so must we look after our precious resources. As a family, pledge to do something for the earth that shows they care. Track your progress on a chart throughout the week. See just how many things you do as a family. Let this care be the family’s prayer throughout the week.

Catholic Daughters Meeting April 24, 7 PM

The Catholic Daughters, Ct. St. Christina #2336, will meet Tuesday, April 24th, at St. Nicholas, Tea.

Information, Activities & Events

Next week, we will take up the Catholic Home Missions Appeal. Right now, over 40 percent of dioceses in the United States are considered home mission territory because they are unable to fund the essential pastoral work needed in their communities. Your support of this appeal helps ease the struggle of these dioceses. Please prayerfully consider how you can support this appeal. More information at www.usccb.org/home-missions.
