Easter Sunday—1 April 2018 Growing in FaithTM ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

What does the Resurrection mean for us?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jesus’ Resurrection – the most important event in human history – is how we know that what He said and did while on Earth is true and His promises to us are trustworthy.
During His public ministry, Jesus spoke and acted as God. He promised that if we follow Him, we will have eternal life. Either He was God and had the power to make it true, or He was a mere man claiming to be someone He wasn’t.
That Jesus rose from the dead – a fact verified by more than 500 eyewitness accounts – means that His word can be trusted. He warned of the specifics of His own death, predicted His Resurrection, and proved that He really is God. Therefore, His promises of eternal life are real, too.
The Resurrection gives us hope. “By His death, Christ liberates us from sin; by His Resurrection, He opens for us the way to a new life” (Catechism of the Catholic Church #654). All those who die in God’s friendship will live with Him forever. ~~GIF, April 2018 Issue
Alleluia! He is risen! May you and all your family members and friends have a joyous Easter season. No matter the spiritual battles to come we always take assurance that our Risen Lord Jesus has won the ultimate victory over sin, death and the devil. He will come in power and glory on the last day, raise up the dead, glorify the bodies of the saints, separate the “sheep from the goats” and establish His kingdom without end. The wedding feast of the Lamb awaits those who love, trust and obey God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Nothing this passing world has to offer (remembering who Jesus called “prince of this world”) is worth the risk of losing heaven. Jesus loves you! Thank you to all from both parishes who helped in decorating, in the preparation, and the music for our Holy Week liturgies. There is a lot that goes into it all. Finance Council for St. Dominic parish: Meeting on Tuesday, April 3rd, 7 PM for members who can attend. Mass schedule changes this week: First Wednesday, April 4th, there will be no
9 AM Mass at St. Magdalen parish, due to the 9:45 AM Mass at the Good Samaritan nursing home in Canton.
Thursday, April 5th, Mass at St. Dominic parish will be at 8 AM, not the normal 8:30 AM. Also, there will not be a 5:15 PM Mass, nor scheduled confession time at St. Magdalen parish.
First Friday, April 6th, we will hold the 9 AM Mass at Good Samaritan nursing home in Lennox.
“Reflecting on the healed wounds of the Risen Christ, we see that even our most difficult trials can be the place where God manifests his victory. He makes all things beautiful. He makes all things new.”
LTPTM—Reflecting & Living on the Word John 20:1-9
What did you notice about how the church looked today? How did it seem joyful? How do you like to celebrate?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Did your alleluias ring out today? Did you feel the spirit of rejoicing in every muscle and every cell of your body? For a moment, did you let go and feel what it is to be fully and completely basking in the glow of God’s grace? So often we hold back from immersing ourselves in the liturgy.

Wholeheartedly, allow the spirit of celebration to take over. Next time you sing and proclaim alleluia, really mean it!

As Mary ran to spread the Good News she didn’t stop for a bite or to chat, but immediately went to the disciples who found it too good to be true and had to see for themselves. Have you ever heard anything that sounds too good to be true? Share that with your family. Challenge each other this week to spread the good news to at least five other people. Perhaps they will want to tell others! Celebrating Sunday for Catholic Families 2017-2018
