Bright Beginnings Spring 2013 Newsletter April 3rd—5th: KG Custom Portraits will be selling Spring and VPK Cap & Gown Packets. April 15th—26th: Bright Beginnings annual Change for Children Fundraiser. We will be collecting pennies, nickels from April 15th—19th and then dimes, quarters and dollars from April 22nd— 26th. All donations will go directly to the classroom to purchase additional educa- tional supplies and resources. April 29th: This is a NON- VPK and non-school day (K- 5th). There will be a field trip planned for the K-5th School Age Program. May 4th (Saturday): Parent/Teacher confer- ences will be held from 9am to 1pm. Sign up sheets are on the classroom door. You can also request a phone conference as well if you can’t be there in person. May 6th—10th: Teacher Appreciation Week. Show your child’s teachers how much you care appreciate them! May 8th — 10th: Muffins with Mom week in honor of Mother’s Day on May 12th. * May 8th—1A at 2pm, 1B at 2:30pm, 3A at 3pm, 4’s at 3:30pm * May 9th— Infant 1 & 2A at 2pm, 2C at 2:30pm, 3B at 3pm, VPK A at 3:30pm * May 10th—Infant 2 & 2B at 2pm, 2D at 2:30pm, 3C at 3pm, VPK C/D at 3:30pm May 27th: Bright Begin- nings is closed in observance of Memorial Day May 31st: This is our last day of VPK and we are having our VPK Graduation at Our Lady of Lourdes Conmy Center at 7pm. raiser” during the weeks of

April 15th through the 26th. We

will be collecting pennies and

nickels during the week of April

15th—19th and then dimes,

quarters and dollars during the

week of April 22nd—26th. The

classroom that collects the most

money will have their earning

matched dollar for dollar by

Miss Jenna & Mr. Lowell AND

they win a pizza party!

This year all donations

Children ages 2 to 5 years old can take part in several different extra curricular activities while they

are at Bright Beginnings:

L.A. Academy of Creative Arts—Providing children with a quality performing arts education. We teach tap, jazz and ballet. Classes $40 for a 4 week session. You can learn more about them on their website at www.ladancearts.com

Little Techs is a fun, innovative, educational program for our little learners ages 3 and up. Every student

in the Little Techs program will be provided his/her own iPad and class sizes never contain more than eight

students. Each weekly class is thirty minutes in length and is based on the given educational theme for

that week. For example, one week may be Alphabet/Phonetic Knowledge (associating ABC's to correct

sounds); another week might focus on Early Math Skills (like addition, subtraction, sorting, and sequenc-

ing). Classes are $40 for a 4 week session. You can learn more about them at www.littletechs.com.

The JUNGLE BUS is a school bus which has been converted into an air-conditioned gym with padded floors and walls. It is full of preschool gymnastics equipment including monkey bars, balance beams, mini-trampoline, zip line and much more. View more about them on their website at www.thejunglebus.com . Classes are $40 for a 4 week session.

We have a 9:00am cut off. If

you are going to be arriving late,

please call the school no later than

8:30am to advise us of your child’s

tardiness. Please do not abuse this

policy, as it is for doctor appoint-

ments and emergencies only.

To ensure the safety of your

child and of the other children,

please follow the posted speed limit

of 5 MPH as well as the directional

arrows while in the parking lot.

Please make sure that your child

has at least 1 set of weather

appropriate spare clothes that fit

well

Please send your child to school

in closed toed shoes everyday.

If you choose to utilize the “Hug

& Go Lane” during drop off or

pick up, please be sure to limit your

time inside the school to 5 minutes or

less. Others are waiting to drop off.

In order to help eliminate any

possible confusion or mix ups,

please remember to label all of your

child’s belongings (lunch box, cot

sheet, blanket, spare clothes, sippy

cups, diapers, wipes etc) with his or

her first and last name.

3 yr olds (only 6 slots available—must be fully potty-trained)

If you refer a family and they enroll with us, please let us know and we will give

you a $75 credit on your account after their 4th week of enrollment.

Month. Miss Nicole has been

our 3’s and old Spanish and

American Sign Language

Teacher and is now one of our

since February of 2011.

Ahoy Mates! This summer we are excited to welcome your child aboard the S.S. Bright Beginnings Cruise Ship! We will be spending our time

aboard the cruise ship traveling from country to country. During the first week of camp, we will be preparing for our cruise by learning all

about the different cultures of the destinations we will be visiting this summer and the way of life in those countries. Starting the 2nd week of

camp, we will board the cruise ship in Key West, Florida, where we will begin our journey around the world. Each week will be fun filled with

international cooking projects, crafts and water days as we go on safaris in the jungles and on the plains of Africa, surfing while visiting Aus-

tralia, visiting castles in Ireland, seeing the Eifel Tower in Paris, and so much more! Bon Voyage!

Week 1 – Getting Ready for the Cruise Week 7 – England & France Week 2 – Key West to a Caribbean Island Week 8 – Italy Week 3 – Holland & Switzerland Week 9 – Japan & China Week 4 – Ireland & Scotland Week 10 –Australia Week 5 – USA & Canada Week 11 -Mexico Week 6 – Africa

This camp is only for adventurous 4 & 5 year olds who have recently graduated a VPK program. Camp ticket fare is $145 per week and there is

a $25 non-refundable registration fee that will be used 100% for supplies to make this the best summer ever for your child! If you would like
