Abstract—Agriculture is demographically the broadest economic sector and plays a significant role

in the overall economy of India. For the growth of Indian economy, mechanization is necessary. The

main purpose of mechanization in agriculture is to improve the overall productivity and production.

The socio-economic conditions of peoples living in villages of developing countries including India,

human muscle power can be good alternative to fulfill the energy requirements for performing many

activities like water pumping and grass cutting.

This article addresses improvement in agriculture processes like automatic spraying of water or

pesticides on plants and cutting the plants or grass after obtaining the fruits or the cereals by using

vehicle. We have developed a vehicle having three wheels and it can be moved by pushing it. The

complete assembly can be powered by using 12V Pb-acid rechargeable battery. The battery can be

charged by using solar panel which is also mounted on the machine.

I. INTRODUCTION Agricultural sector is changing the socio-economic environment of the population due to

liberalization and globalization. About 75% people are living in the rural area and are still dependent

on agriculture. About 43% of geographical area is used for agricultural activity. Agriculture has been

the backbone of the Indian economy. As Indian population is growing continuously, the demand for

producing crop per hector is also increasing this requires efficient and high-capacity machines. So

mechanization in agricultural industry plays an important role in Indian economy.

In current generation most of the countries do not have sufficient human factor in agriculture

sector and it affects the growth of developing countries. In India, there are 70% people dependent on

agriculture. So we need to study the agriculture.

Pushing wheels is the most efficient way of utilizing power from human muscles. Keeping

these things in mind a push type pesticide spray diaphragm pump can is developed. Diaphragm pump

(also known as a Membrane pump) is a positive displacement pump that uses a combination of the

reciprocating action of a rubber, thermoplastic or teflon diaphragm and suitable valves on either side

of the diaphragm (check valve, butterfly valves, flap valves, or any other form of shut-off valves) to

pump a fluid. This project work deals with the design and fabrication of a pesticide spray diaphragm

pump. The aim of this work is to develop a modernized and less stressful operation of pesticide spray

diaphragm pump and grass cutter. The progressive invention in agriculture system is becoming an

important task especially because of rising demand on quality of agriculture products and declining

labour availability in rural farming areas.

Innovative idea of our project is to automate the process of spraying the pesticide by using a

cam which is used to pump the fluid and it can be used to cut the plants using a DC motor which runs

on solar power. The cam can be run by either manual power i.e by pushing or can be used using a

DC motor while standing still at one place, the height of the grass cutter can be adjusted as per the

need of the farmer.

II. LITERATURE SURVEY Regarding the mechanisation of agriculture, Linz, A. Ruckelshausen and E. Wunder(2014)

- The authors are working in the fields of unmanned or remote controlled autonomous field robots,

navigation, image-based sensor fusion as well as agricultural applications. In particular field robots

have been applied for a few years in outdoor agricultural field applications. Within an

interdisciplinary research group these technologies are transferred to robot applications in vineyards

and orchards. The goal is the availability of an autonomous service robot, whereas first applications

are site-specific plant protection (e.g. precise spraying), mulching and picking up fruit boxes. A first

version of the robot with electrical drives and precise sprayers has already been developed.

In 1994, MansukhbhaiJagani, developed an attachment for a motorbike to get a multi-

purpose tool bar. It addresses the twin problems of farmers in Saurashtra namely paucity of laborers

and shortage of bullocks. This motor cycle driven plough (Bullet Santi) can be used to carry out

various farming operations like furrow opening, sowing, inter-culturing and spraying operations.

Mansukhbhai’s intermediate-technology contraption proved efficient and cost-effective for small-

sized farms. It could plough one acre (0.4 ha) of land in less than half an hour on just two liters of

diesel oil. Using motorbike-santi, the cost of weeding a typical field was found to be just Rs 8/ha

because as much as 10 ha land could be covered in a single day. But, this spraying equipment needs

fuel for its running and proper operation which increases its operating cost.

III. NECESSITY FOR AN AUTOMATIC GRASS CUTTER AND SPRAYER

In order to spray the pesticides in farms, the people have to carry the pumps on their backs and

pump it with their hands to pressurize it and they have bend down and cut the plants one after the

other which puts a lot of strain and wears them out quickly. So, to reduce the human effort in rural

areas we have developed a machine. The following challenges are overcome by this:

There is a lack of mechanization in farming.

Processes like spraying and grass cutting requires excess effort.

More man power is required in agriculture field.

More time consumption also leads to less productivity.

IV. METHODOLY AND WORKING PRINCIPLE

Base frame is made for the vehicle with three wheels connected to it, the front wheel is a free

rotating wheel in 360 degrees. Three Wheels are welded to the chassis through bearings. The

adjustable grass cutter is fixed at the front and DC motor is connected to it. The diaphragm pump

with the hose is fixed at the middle of the frame. At the rear shaft, a chain and sprocket is fixed this

is connected to the cam which is used to move the piston of the pump. A DC motor is also connected

to cam mechanism so that it can be automated.

The vehicle makes use of solar panel and batteries to operate. The battery is placed at the front and it

is connected to the 2 DC motors. The solar panel is fixed at the rear near the handle and is connected

to the battery with the help of a diode. A handle is made so that the machine can be pushed. The

welded parts are grinded to smooth them. And the machine is painted.

VIII. OBJECTIVES With the help of a multi operational vehicle, the following objectives can be achieved:

To minimize human effort in the agricultural field.

To perform TWO operations (Spraying pesticides and grass cutting) at single time.

To increases production and save time of farmers.

 No pollution problems.

Farmer can operate this vehicle easily without tiring for long times.

X. CONCLUSION This project work has presented progress towards achieving a future precision autonomous

farming system. This system is designed to help farmers in reducing their time and energy spent for

pesticide spraying and weed cutting. This system can be operated on +12V rechargeable battery. This

system will reduce labour problem in future. So this system will be the best replacement for currently

used systems like hand sprayers and tiller mounted sprayers.
