Non-Metallic Components - Yamada Engineersutilize state-of-the-art solid modeling and finite element analysis techniques, including rib and shell methods of injection molding to design non-metallic parts structure. This “patented”technique greatly increases the componentstrength and reduces material usage.(U.S. Patent #4,817,503)

NDP-40, 50 & 80 Non-metallic pump base - The tubular 304 Stainless Steel base was designedto simplify rebuilding procedures. Maintenance operations are streamlined by mounting the basedirectly to the air motor so that the pump can situpright on a work bench for most of the service.The radially bent tubular steel base is rated to85,000 PSI giving it exceptional strength vs. weldedangle designs. See pages 14 - 19 for pump details.

Non-stalling - A patented non-centering, springassisted shifter is incorporated into every NDPSeries pump, ensuring a positive shift every time.The 304 Stainless Steel C-springs provide exceptionaldurability and longevity and are tested to last over300 million cycles! (U.S. Patent #5,002,469).

Non-lubricated - The patented air valve (U.S. patent#5,002,468) on all NDP Series pumps never requireslubrication or “pre-packing”. The advanced designeliminates the need for oilers and external lubricationwhich can lead to contamination. Pilot Valve - Unique to theYamada design is an individ-ual modular pilot valvethat actuates the airvalve. It is depressedslightly by the inner cen-ter disk creating a pressuredrop at one end of the airvalve, allowing shifting to occur.It is maintenance free with no cum-bersome snap rings or lubricateddynamic o-rings to replace or repair.

• Handles a wide variety of fluids with high solids content:No close fitting or rotating parts so liquid with high solids content and /or size can be easily pumped.

• Self Priming: The Yamada pump design (incorporating internal check valves) allows for high suction lift even at dry start-up and with heavier fluids.

• Ability to run dry: No close fittings or sliding parts are at risk– the pump can run dry without damage.

• Variable flow rate and discharge pressure: Yamada pumps will run at any setting within their operating range simply by adjusting the air inlet pressure and system conditions.One pump can fit a broad spectrum of applications.

• Portable / Simple Installation: Yamada pumps can easily be toted to the application’s location. Simply connect your air supply line and liquid lines, the pump is ready to perform.There are no complex controls to install and operate.

• Dead Head: Because the discharge pressure can never exceed air inlet pressure, the discharge line can be closed withno damage or wear. The pump will simply slow down and stop.

To determine compressed air requirements for a Yamada Air-Operated DoubleDiaphragm Pump you must have two pieces of information, Required Flow Rate(GPM) and Total Dynamic Head (TDH).

As an example, we will reference a NDP-40 Series pump performance curve withRubber diaphragms pumping 90 GPM at 50’ TDH.

Point on the performance curve is where the desired Flow Rate (GPM) andTotal Dynamic Head points intersect. This point determines compressed airrequirements for the particular pump.

At performance point the pump will require approximately 75 PSI air inletpressure. To arrive at this figure, follow the solid curve to the left to read airpressure rating in PSI.

By looking at the nearest dashed line, we determine that the pump will requireapproximately 90 SCFM of air volume.

Yamada U.L. listed pumps are manufactured for thepetrochemical, chemical and petroleum industries tomeet safety requirements established by UnderwritersLaboratory Code 79. The pumps include Aluminumwetted components with durable Buna N elastomers,which are approved by U.L. to transfer volatile fluids.Available in 3/4” and 1” port sizes, and flow rangesfrom 1 gallon to 44 gallons per minute. U.L. Code79 limits pump discharge pressures to no more than50 PSI and pumping temperatures must adhere tothe range of -20° F to 125° F.

Yamada FDA compliant pumps were specifically designedfor Food, Pharmaceutical & Cosmetic industries wherethere is not a 3A or USDA standard requirement. Thepumps include 316 Stainless Steel wetted componentswith Passivated Satin Finish, Epoxy Coated Air Motor,Sanitary Clamp Fittings, and FDA compliant elastomers:Hytrel®, EPDM and PTFE. With eight sizes from 3/4” to 4”and flow ranges from 1 gallon to 215 gallons per minute,Yamada can handle many applications within your facility.They operate at air pressures ranging from 20 to 100 PSI.

Yamada EP Series pumps were specificallydesigned for the transfer of ultra high-puritysolvents and other non-corrosive liquids compatible with 316 Stainless Steel. Thepumps include 20Ra Electro Polished 316Stainless Steel wetted components, PTFEelastomers and FNPT liquid ports. EPpumps are available in 1/2”, 3/4” and 1” FNPTport sizes and *optional Swagelok®, VCR®,Sanitary Clamp, Tube or ANSI Flange Connections. The pumps will producea maximum flow rate of 35 GPM and have anoperating range of 20 to 100 PSI.

Yamada F-Series Clean Room Manufacturedpumps were specifically designed for the safeand efficient transfer of Ultra High-Purity ProcessChemistries. They provide maximum corrosionresistance, ultra high-purity levels and lowparticle generation. The pumps include 100%machined virgin PTFE diaphragms, liquidchambers and manifolds. Yamada offers fivesizes of F-Series Pumps, available with Flaretek®,FNPT, or ANSI-Flange fluid connections with flowrates of 1 gallon to 35 gallons per minute. Yamada Air-Operated Double Diaphragm Pumps have distinctdesign advantages that make them very versatile and cost effectivedrum pumps. Models are available in Polypropylene, PVDF(Kynar®), Aluminum and Stainless Steel which includes a 2” bungadapter and 33” suction tube. They are available in 3/8”, 1/2” and3/4” port sizes (3/8” metal only &1/2” plastic only) and flow rates to28 GPM.

Please note: Yamada plastic drum pumps incorporate side liquidports and utilize a 90° elbow on the top of the drum.

Air motor coatings are available forall Yamada pumps except the NDP-5and 15 Series which incorporate aRyton® plastic air motor as standard.

Coating or plating is offered fortwo primary reasons:

Environment: If the pump islocated in a place where

aggressive fumes may be presentor the possibility of material notcompatible with Aluminum comingin contact with the pump.

Diaphragm Failure: An air motorcoating or plating option is not aninsurance policy, though if properlyselected will defend the air valvecomponents from the fluid beingpumped.

Each of the major air valve compo-nents are independently coated orplated then assembled so the airmotor is chemically resistantinternally and externally.

■ Please note that excessive inlet pressure orexcessive suction lift can shorten diaphragm life.Please consult Yamada for further information.
