Eyewear is simply an extension of these foundational ballistic components. The unique serial number found on the Aegis eyeshield and the OTW goggle allows for discrete traceability of every lens produced. We didn’t have to do this but we chose to as proof that every lens meets the highest of production and validation standards. Our goggle frames, eyeshield frames and straps go through rigorous inbound testing. On lens production lots alone, we have impact tested hundreds of thousands of lenses. Not all shipments have made it through the process and we have no issue rejecting anything that does not make the grade. SCHOOL OF DESIGNsmith elite takes the concept of integration to a new level by adopting the military’s human systems integration (hsi) process. this approach takes human variables such as fi t, optical performance, ballistic performance, integrated equipment, and weapons interface into account to refi ne a product’s functionality across the spectrum of factors. LENS COATINGSFogging is performance inhibiting, annoying, and dangerous. smith Optics founder, Dr. Bob smith, began our battle against fog in 1965 when he pioneered the fi rst thermal lens. to this day, smith Optics continues to lead the industry forward in the development of fog prevention. in addition, our line of eyeshield and goggle lenses incorporate a tough scratch resistant technology. the combination of premium anti-fog and scratch resistant lens coatings will keep your line of sight crystal clear so all you have to think about is your objective.

LENS MATERIALSQuality materials help us achieve our goal of premium protection. We use top grade polycarbonate in our goggle and eyeshield lenses and a proprietary polymer material in our sunglass lenses. the most important thing we do is balance impact with optics. We make sure that the eye protection you are wearing can take a hit but will also provide you top of the line optics. it’s not as easy as it sounds, but we enjoy the challenge and hang our hat on providing the best of both.

Visual distortion occurs when light waves hit an aggressively curved lens causing it to bend or distort an object’s true size or position. imagine looking through a fi sh eye lens. What your eye normally sees is stretched beyond reality.

Get the picture? tlt (tapered lens technology) corrects the distortion by progressively tapering the lens from the optical center towards the outer edges. light waves are thereby delivered straight to your eye resulting in zero distortion and true optical clarity. What you see is what you get.

We have also incorporated the Pivlock™ lens interchange technology in the Aegis eyeshield. the easy to open levers on the frame let you exchange lens tints without a hitch.

the Aegis ARC and Aegis eChO off er two frame sizes. the larger frame is approximately 15% larger than the Compact frame version. We use hat size to help gauge which size might work best for you.

the Aegis eChO temple is designed to fi t comfortably for extended wear with over the ear hearingprotection and communication systems. the eChO is a great choice if you use either of these pieces of equipment. the traditional Aegis temple is great for all around use but for over the ear protection or comms, the eChO model is a best fi t.
