“Breaking the cycle of poverty through education”
_____________________________________________________________
7th Sep. 2019
Dear Friends, Patrons, and Well wishers,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 20th Lily
Foundation Annual Appreciation Gala. We take this moment to thank
you for your kindness, involvement and continued support and contribution, to which we
extend our deepest gratitude. This journey would not have been possible without you.
As we continue to strive towards our stated goal of breaking the cycle of poverty with the
gift of education. The foundation works diligently towards this objective by
supporting/establishing Study Homes, Coaching Schools, SMILE (Scholarship Made for
India’s Less-fortunate Entrants) Scholarships, Computer Centers, Book Banks,
Vocational Centers and runs healthcare camps. This past year, we have supported High
School Science Labs at various schools, allowing these kids to take their STEM education
to the next level; all this, while keeping overhead costs to a low double-digit number.
The foundation incorporates our learning from this journey for the less fortunate.
Education, however, continues to remain a luxury. In addition, primary needs of
nutrition and financial support are critical. Lily’s charter is to provide a holistic solution
to ensure a child’s success and as consequence, the uplifting of one family at a time and
this is something that we remain committed to.
Following the success of SMILE scholars Krishnendu Kundu and Tanmoy Pati , who
ranked 8th and 10th respectively at West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education
(Grade 12 exams) last year, this year, SMILE Scholar Sayantan Basak from
Gangarampur High School ranked 8th at West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary
Education (Grade 12 exams) scoring 97.5%, giving wings to his dreams of becoming a
doctor.
These dreams, however, would not come to fruition without your participation, empathy,
and understanding of what we do.
We extend our sincerest gratitude to all our dedicated volunteers in India and America. It
is their unwavering pledge of allegiance that has taken Lily Foundation forward towards
its glorious mission and hopefully will continue to propel us to higher and bigger goals.
Thank you all, once again, for your generosity and kind support for which we remain
eternally grateful.
Wishing your loved ones and you all the very best.
Kind Regards,
President, Lily Foundation

The name ‘LILY’ in ‘LILY EOUNDATION’ has a symbolic meaning. Amiability,
purity, love, fertility, virtue, chastity, unity and transience. It represents all of
them. As I thought of those whom I admired most and were successful at their
job, I began to think about the famous personalities of the world. I realized that I
was looking at the wrong people in my life because it is not a single person I
admire but a group of people who inspire me the most. the Lily Foundation, by
far, has the greatest impact on my life and I admire it more than anything else.
I was in Std. IX, amidst financial crisis, struggling with the study materials,
when Lily Foundation entered as a boon in my life. It inspired me more
than any famous person in this world. It taught me to work hard and to achieve
goals. It not only taught me to come out of difficulties, but it also trained me to
help others to come out of obstacles in life. It taught me dedication towards
dreams & how to work smart to achieve those dreams. It has shown me that with
determination & perseverance one can accomplish anything.
The foundation instilled in me the idea of carrying out our duty towards the
society. It has shown me the path of love and kindness for all sections of society. It
has taught me to serve the needy in times of their crisis & bad days.
Last but not the least, Lily Foundation has made me smile at times when my
heart cried and it taught me to make others happy and inspired me to become a
person with good character in life.
Thank You.
HOW LILY FOUNDATION INSPIRES OUR STUDENTS
Letters from our students
Santanu Dutta B.Tech., ECE, Kolkata
We move all around the world and get inspired by many things. Each of these
thing teach us lessons for life. We have the opportunity to make discoveries,
integrate new knowledge to increase our ability, to give and receive love. These
intensions are eternal, they do not emerge simply when we are in human from.
Inspiration that I have received from Lily Foundation is to reach our aim and to
secure a good position in society. Through this process I have learnt that, by
attaining certain successes, we need to give a helping hand according to our
capability to the ones who are not able to reach their goals financially and to
expect nothing in return.
We have to help people of all age groups accordingly. Their blessings will surely
help us in become successful in life. It is not just our responsibility but of every
citizen to help people in one or the other way.
We really feel happy and proud to be one of the members of the Lily Foundation
family which has taken the responsibility of offering a helping hand and we’ll
surely try to do the same.
Thank You .
