"New Year, New You", otherwise known as "Why I think it's utter nonsense for us tothink that we are anything other than fucking magical unicorns all day, every day."
You are not broken. But if you live in thesame world that I do, every single time youlook anywhere, people are telling you thatyou are. You need cooler clothes. Moreexpensive makeup. Nicer kicks. Edgierundies. A sexier pucker. Bigger boobs. Thelatest iPhone. A new exercise plan. And zerobody fat.
If and only if you follow these strict regimes,which you may also purchase for 10 easyinstallments of $999.99, will you be cool. Andbeautiful. And people will actually start tolike you instead of just pretending.

Look, I know you don’t need me to tell you this, but goodluck getting rid of me. Because I am here and I want youto know that you are, in fact, unbroken…as in NOTbroken. You do not need cooler gadgets or 0% body fat tobe wonderful. You just need to be you.
I hate hearing the phrase that companies like to overuseduring January…New Year, New You. The phrase aloneimplies that something was wrong before and now, finally(phew!) you have a fresh start.
I say, screw that.

Here is my proposed motto for the new year:New Year, Be You. After all, YOU know yourselfbest. You know what you love. And the only onethat can control your happiness, decide to bebetter or feel better or be happier, is YOU.
The Shine Bright Gang will delve deep into self-confidence and happiness this year, somethingthat we like to call Self Love Magic.
My message to you as you make your resolutions,and set your new year’s goals, is to be brave. Bebold. And be you.

It is never too late to start manifesting your dreams, wishes, and desires!

A new moon is a magically ripe time to strike! A new moon marksbeginnings and are known to be the perfect time to start a new project,idea, recharge goals, or receive a celestial fresh start!
Because it's January AND a new moon, it's time to set your goals andintentions for what will be coming your way this year.
One of my favorite ways to celebrate a new moon is to create a new moonritual. It's important to come up with a ritual that is important to you, andnot base it on someone else's ritual. After all, your ritual is based off ofYOU: your wants, your history, your desires, and your dreams!
Here are some ideas for how to come up with a new moon ritual ANDcelebrate. When you do, don't forget to share it with us, using#ShineBrightMagic.
NEW MOONRITUAL
Add a little bit of body text
Your ritual might be as simple as shutting the door and turning down thelights, relishing in dancing candle flames and a clean room. Do it your way.
Make your space feel special.
Collect your sacred supplies Whether you are using pictures, statues,or picture of your dog, ready them in your magical place. Cleanse the areaby tidying up or if you like, burn sage.
Commit This is SO important. If you don't believe or are not in 100%, itwill not have the power that comes with manifesting your dreams andwilling them to happen. Clear your mind. If it feels weird, put on somemusic.
Focus / Ground You are not focused or grounded if you are feelingnervous or have a wandering mind. Try a breathing exercise.
New Moon Wishes Make a list of your dreams, wants, and desires. Theyare not meaningless wishes. These are intentions, ready to happen andplay out in your life!

Chant If you're new to this, you may feel weird or funny chanting. Butremember, there's nothing wrong with speaking your desires out loud!You can chant whatever you want. If you prefer Om, use it. You canchant the elements if it calms you: earth, air, fire, and water. Or hell,you can hum the tune to your favorite Led Zeppelin. Do what you feelcomfortable with and what allows you to stay in the zone. But don'tforget to speak your goals out loud and confidently, no matter howoutlandish or farfetched they sound.
Focus Your Intentions Focus how YOU want. Whether you want totake this time to perform candle magic and light a symbolic candle,bring out your sacred supplies, read through your list of wants until it ismemorized.. This is also a great time to write down the things youwould like to release and forget. Once they are written, tear them tobits, light them on fire, or bury your paper in the dirt.
Close When you feel ready, end your ceremony. And remember, youcan do this any way you want. Blow out the candles. Practicebreathing exercises. Meditate. Whatever feels right for you.
