What is the Service Learning Program

Interested in sustainable energy and sustainable development? Curious about real-world applications for the information you’re learning in school or your desk job? Join blueEnergy’s Service Learning Program in Nicaragua!

blueEnergy’s Service Learning Program is a unique opportunity to apply classroom and theoretical work knowledge to real-world situations. Have the experience of a lifetime while participating in blueEnergy’s renewable energy and sustainable development work on the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua.

blueEnergy is a non-profit organization that connects isolated communities to power, helping them transition from a reliance on relief to starting their own small businesses. We are currently focused on the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua, where only 25% of the population has access to electricity. Utilizing a community-based project design model, blueEnergy works directly with its beneficiaries to create appropriate solutions. Volunteer with blueEnergy and experience this development model hands-on.

Examples of previous volunteering opportunities (specific opportunities will vary):- Water Filter Project- Wind-Solar Hybrid Energy Design- Accounting, Microfinance Consulting
