Representative Projects:

Spring-Gap Stanislaus Hydroelectric ProjectSequoia has been conducting on-going surveys and restoration in support of various construction projects within PG&E’s Spring Gap Stanislaus Hydroelectric Project, including: protocol Goshawk and spotted owl surveys; rare plant surveys; western pond turtle surveys; nesting surveys for MBTA-covered avian species; protocol-level surveys for foothill yellow-legged frog; pacific fisher den surveys, and conducting routine site inspec-tions to ensure compliance with the CWA 404 permit and CDFW 1600 SAA. Fisheries work included electrofishing and fish rescues at monitoring reaches and work areas, and long-term environmental data was collected to inform management of instream flows. We are leading various restoration efforts, including restoration species replanting, restoration of alpine meadow habitat, and we are currently developing the restoration implementation and monitoring plan for the dam removal portion of the project.

Utility Gas Line Environmental SupportSequoia currently provides environmental services for numerous gas line projects throughout PG&E’s service territory as a subcontractor for various clients. Field support includes project management, environmental training, permit compliance, construction and biological monitoring, storm water inspections, protocol and preconstruction species surveys, botanical surveys, wetlands mapping, and restoration planning, implementation and monitoring, and daily reporting. Project locations range throughout PG&E’s service territory, from Bakersfield to Humboldt. Some examples of gas programs and projects we’re working on include:

• Pipeline Strength Test (Hydrotest) Program; Various Locations, CA. • Pipeline Safety Enhancement Program Spans and Shorts Program; Various Locations, CA. • Line 114 In-line Replacement, Northern Section• Line 300A In-line Pipeline Inspection Project

Electric Transmission Reconductoring: Biological surveys and monitoring; permit complianceSequoia biologists provided species surveys and biological construction monitoring on two electric transmission

reconductoring projects, involving more than ten biologists working simulta-neously. Sequoia ensured compliance with eight environmental permits from the State, Federal and County agencies with conflicting requirements, while ensuring the project moved forward according to schedule and under budget. Species affording protection on these projects included California red-legged frog, Alameda striped racer, California tiger salamander, nesting birds, golden eagle, burrowing owl, Swainson’s hawk, San Joaquin kit fox and American badger. Protocol and helicopter surveys for golden eagle, Swainson’s hawk and burrowing owl were all completed by Sequoia staff.
