A new event to the Chamber calendar, Donuts with Dennis, gave members the opportunity to meet the Chamber CEO, Dennis Grady, hear from him about business trends in Palm Beach County and share their thoughts about Chamber programs.

Mr. Grady gave the attendees an overview of what’s going on in business in Palm Beach County, what the major industries are and how they are affected by the current economic environment. Many of his observations were helpful to the attendees as they create marketing strategies for their own businesses and determine in what business segments to focus their sales efforts.

The members were also able to make some excellent suggestions for additions to the Chamber programming. They shared ideas for events and networking opportunities and offered insight as to which Chamber programs work best.

The next Donuts with Dennis will take place on Friday, September 24 at 8:30 a.m. in the Chamber boardroom. For more information, contact Kelly Fanelli, Membership Director, at (561) 833-3711 ext 235.

Hulett Environmental Services, in partnership with Bank of America, presented this morning’s annual Back-to-School Breakfast, featuring Dr. Art Johnson, Superintendent of the Palm Beach County School District.

DirectAir, Palm Beach International Airport’s newest airline, donated a pair of tickets from PBIA to San Juan, Puerto Rico. On behalf of DirectAir, Jorge Pesquera, President and CEO of the Palm Beach County Convention and Visitors Bureau, pulled the winning business card belonging to Jennifer Witt Schnipper of Good Samaritan Medical Center. Lily Chang of Northern Trust was awarded an Office Depot tote bag filled with office supplies.

Kelly Sobolewski, the Market Manager for Bank of America in Palm Beach, spoke about the financial institution’s commitment to education.

Hulett Environmental Services’ Greg Rice’s quick wit and one-liners served as the opening act for Dr. Johnson.

In his State of the Schools address, Dr. Johnson pointed out that the Palm Beach County School District is once again an “A” Graded District for the 6th consecutive year. Newsweek magazine just unveiled its top 1600 public high schools, and Palm Beach County’s Suncoast, Dreyfoos, Boca Raton and Atlantic High Schools were ranked in the top 100.

The Women in Business Committee, along with the Office Depot store on Okeechobee Boulevard, donated school supplies that served as the morning’s centerpieces.

Immediately following the Breakfast, they were delivered to Belvedere Elementary School. The school, in which approximately 80% of its students are supported by the No Child Left Behind federal program and receive free or reduced meals, were in need of uniforms, which are part of the mandatory dress code. Attendees contributed approximately $500 and a check will be presented to Diane Mahar, Principal.

The Chamber’s Firefighters Breakfast will be held on October 20 at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.

FPL is proud of our long-standing partnership with the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches. As our community has changed and grown over the years, the Chamber has afforded businesses the opportunity to express a strong, unified voice on issues critical to our shared success.

CaboFlatsMixer–MuyCalienteThe second August mixer was held at Cabo Flats Cantina & Tequila Bar in Downtown at the Gardens. The capacity crowd enjoyed Margaritas, along with menu samplings quesadillas, empanadas, guacamole and ceviche (Mexican sushi). A cantina-style Mexican restaurant, Cabo Flats, is known as the Mexican party spot in northern Palm Beach County. Their philosophy is to treat its guests as if they were on vacation each time they visit.

Finding the time to build your base of business connections can be a challenge, but the Chamber makes it easy – and fun – with regular events when the workday is done.

Thanks to the following businesses who donated raffle prizes: Cabo Flats, South Florida Science Museum, TooJays Gourmet Deli, Tasks Unlimited. Special thanks to Pete Lang, General Manager; Melissa Hartman, Assistant Manager and the staff of Cabo Flats.

Position your company as a proactive business and community leader as you gain valuable marketing through the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches sponsorship programs. Research shows that consumers are more likely to think favorably of businesses that are involved in their Chamber and are more likely to think your products, goods or services are superior to the competition. Promotional opportunities help a business gain and maintain top-of-mind awareness for your products and services with the thousands of employees of the over 1500 Chamber members companies – your customers.

The Chamber offers many programs and others can be customized to meet your marketing and budget objectives. For instance, INK & TONER USA is a small business that was looking for visibility. As sponsor of the Open House Coffee, they interact with the attendees as well as receive logo inclusion in all Chamber communications promoting the event. “The exposure of our business, INK & TONER USA, in all Chamber weekly updates and e-mails has increased our awareness within the community. We have been able to meet potential customers by speaking at the Open House Coffee events twice a month. As a small business, all exposure is important to our growth,” said Jane Bloom, President of INK & TONER USA.

The Chamber hosts more than 100 events and programs annually, focusing on key issues facing our community and celebrating the success of area businesses and individuals. Some of the Chamber’s signature productions, such as the State of the City Breakfast, ATHENA Awards, and Yappy Hour provide our members unique opportunities to increases their company’s visibility to business decision-makers and offer a targeted alternative to standard marketing. Chamber events reach key business owners and managers throughout the area and are communicated through the weekly Chamber Update, e-mails, monthly newsletter “Business Watch” distributed by The Palm Beach Post, as well as our website.

“Grand Bank & Trust of Florida has benefited from its sponsorship of the annual State of the City address because it is exposed to nearly a thousand of the area’s prominent business leaders and residents. This sponsorship alone has put our bank’s name at the forefront of many people” said Russell Greene, President and CEO of Grand Bank & Trust of Florida.

Benefits of becoming a sponsor include enhanced networking opportunities, exposure to a broad cross-section of the business community, company featured in promotional materials developed by the Chamber for your business, and recognition at the event through sponsor signs, illuminated logo and podium announcements. Sometimes a custom sponsorship is created to meet the sponsor’s needs.

“We saw the potential in the monthly breakfast parking sponsorship opportunity to engage – through humor – Chamber members and their guests each month with a series of small billboard featuring a rhyming message focused on the speaker’s topic. This sponsorship has given us a monthly vehicle to reinforce our brand and remind the business community that there’s an agency out there that knows how to make a big impression…that gets the message across powerfully,” said Carey O’Donnell, President of Carey O’Donnell Public Relations Group.

Tabletop displays at the Chamber monthly breakfast (including 2 seats) are only $175, Presenting sponsorship of breakfasts is approximately $3800, partnership in the Yappy Hour event held at CityPlace is $750 and sponsorship of a Power Networking event is $350. As you can see, there are many ways to increase your visibility with various Chamber events. • Hosting an event is the perfect vehicle for getting the business community to your location. This allows them to experience first-hand what it is that makes you unique.

SponsorshipMeansVisibility

• Sponsorships also provide tremendous exposure. Not only are you featured in the event program, you are included in the pre-event invitations, press releases and event promotion. This means flyers and e-mails to the business community carry your company name and logo to a targeted demographic of professionals and business owners.

• Company banners hung in the venue and the opportunity to place promotional products or company literature at the tables keep your company’s name in front of the attendees the entire time of the program and sometimes beyond. Some events will include media coverage. This is advertising you can’t buy at any price.

Remember to factor sponsorships into your marketing plan and budget. They go a long way in establishing your reputation and reinforcing your branding. You’ll be sought after and respected as a “mover and shaker”. They say you get what you pay for and sponsorships are a perfect example of making the most of your marketing dollars.
