Reflections

• 1. Pepperlab was an interesting event for me. The atmosphere and the location were briljant. The seminars learned me what companies actually expect nowadays from students. We, as students, have currently too high expectations, which lead to a gap between schools and the labour market. Companies and schools should try to close these gaps. For example more and longer internships could help. The networking session at the end of the event, were an opportunity for us to get in contact with the company members and partners. That is why I also suggest to implement networking sessions after the seminars of TMD.

• 2. As mentioned earlier, the seminar given by Dirk Buyens, was for me the most interesting one. He had so much experience in working and living abroad, that you knew that his examples can really help you out in the future. Even after a few months I even remembered his story about he and his wife celebrating new year’s eve in a cab. This only shows that this seminar really has stuck in my mind.

Page 23: Seminars Slidecast and Professional Reflection

Reflections

• 3. If I have to be honest, this seminar was reasonably poor of quality. It was like she just promoted her university in Finland and wanted to attract students. On the other hand she was very committed to convince us. I expected more of this seminar and probably because of time issues she could not finish her presentation in a decent way. A positive aspects was her clear explanation about crisis management and crisis communication. Certainly in these times, the impact of the media in a crisis can not be underestimated. E.g. Volkswagen

• 4. “Applying for a job abroad” learned me some new things. He brought up some interesting websites like Kamiel and Eures. Secondly, the difference between EEA and non-EEA can be crucial in your furture career. I have experienced that a lot of students have difficulties to find an internship abroad. A friend of mine, could not go to the U.K. for his internships because of administration problems. This seminar can really help students to prepare themselves. Maybe he should added some more concrete examples of the past.

Reflections

• 5. For me, this was the most difficult seminar of all I attended. It was sometimes difficult to follow. Mainly, because marketing is a field that is rather unclear for me. On the other hand, the seminar learned me the different generations in marketing. He strongly emphasized the importance of the NXTGEN and how companies should adapt to this generation. I had never heard of ephermel media. But thanks to his example of Sprite, he made clear that students, already have been in contact with ephermal media through social media.
