Learning, Growing, Achieving…Our journey together
Dear parents, Bonfire Night was, literally, a roaring success! It was certainly the largest bonfire yet and the atmosphere was festive and fun. Congratulations to Indigo Class for winning The Best Guy competition; they will be receiving a small treat. The evening raised just over £800 which is a brilliant result. Many thanks to the committee and volunteers - and also to parents who contributed wood. Special thanks to Tom Sewell for building the bonfire and tending it carefully throughout the evening. These photos will give you an idea of some of the highlights: We’ve hardly breathed a word to the children yet, but it seems that Christmas is just around the corner. We have a number of special events for the children, however, this year, there will be no Christmas Fayre. The FOWPS committee has struggled more and more to get sufficient help leading up to the day - and on the day itself. The committee is just too small to take on the entire event and so, with sadness, I have to confirm that the traditional Saturday Fayre will not be taking place. Christmas fun for the children, however, starts on Friday 6th December with our second annual Christmas Crafts and Supper with Santa Party. Teachers will be helping children make beautiful Christmas crafts in their classrooms from 3:30 - 4:30pm. Following that, children will move to the hall where supper and the grotto awaits them. Also, they will have the chance to visit the Secret Presents room where they can choose items for family members and get them wrapped up all ready for Christmas. Please see the attached flyer for further information, prices and sign-up. Enjoy the blustery weekend! Yours sincerely, Chasey Crawford Usher, headteacher

This Sunday is the Toy Service at St John’s. We invite all families to join us when we remember families who have had to leave home suddenly to find accommodation in a women’s refuge. We collect toys for the children, either good as new or new, and toiletries for the mums. If you would like to come along to the service and give your children the opportunity to appreciate what they have, we look forward to welcoming you at St John the Baptist
Church at 10.00am on Sunday 17th November.

Our Year 6
pupils worked

They were great
at ensuring that
every pupil had

Today in English we
mummified a tomato. We
had to:
1. Cut the top off
2. Scoop the insides
out, yuk!
3. Then we filled
the tomato with
salt to preserve
it. This was good
fun!

…chance to share our points of view. We at Wateringbury were
quick to think of something. We commented on every debate. We
enjoyed biscuits and squash. After that, we had a tour of the
mayor’s parlour and had a photograph. Before we left, we got a
folder of mementos. I thought today was a brilliant experience and
I’m sure the others agree. Louie, Yr 6
First we worked out how many grams of each component we needed. We needed 55% plasma; which was 50g of syrup, 44% red blood cells; which was 40g of Haribo Strawbs, and 0.5% of white blood cells and platelets which was roughly 0.5g of marshmallows and smarties. We put them all together to show what blood is made from. Lewis
Year 6 identify what makes blood!
Year 6 led our Harvest Festival at St John’s Church in Wateringbury. The school donated many food items for distribution within the community. Each class presented a song, poem or skit to the service, Pink Class’s first of many!
The school gathered for its own Remembrance on Monday 11th November. Year 6 children read their own poetry on the meaning of the poppy.
Pupils attended a local primary school debate with the Mayor, Cllr Jill Anderson, at the Council Chamber at Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council. This is what Louie Butler wrote: Erin, John, Lucy and I went to Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council on 8th November for a debate with the mayor. There were 12 other schools and we had 3 debates. The first was about air pollution. The second one was about longer school days and no homework. Finally, the third one was about teachers getting paid more than footballers. We all had a…
