TRBPS Cookbook- Our Family TuckerThe launch of the cookbook has been postponed until November 11. We look forward to seeing everyone at the launch from 3.30-5.00pm in the school hall. There will be many activities to enjoy as part of this launch, so please come and join us to either pick up your pre-paid copy or to purchase a copy of the cookbook. Once again, thank you to everyone involved: the PFA cookbook committee, school community and our very generous sponsors. Facilities Update I hope that most families received the notification yesterday (via Konnective) regarding the work scheduled at the school for this weekend - November 5 and 6. I wanted to alert the school community to the building work that will be carried out at the school over the weekend. The DET and building contractors would prefer that the community did not use the grounds during this period of work. The work scheduled involves the removal of the eaves containing asbestos on the Administration/Prep Building. This work will be carried out in accordance with Government building regulations and OH&S and Work Safe guidelines. The company in charge of overseeing this work will be using all of the correct signage to alert any local community members as well. The repair work on the building will follow the removal of the eaves and includes evaporative air-conditioning removal, roof and spouting repairs, painting and plastering as well as installation of new split air-conditioners throughout the main building. As well as this work, we have had the evaporative air conditioning in the Library Building completely investigated and they are currently being serviced and thoroughly cleaned ready for the summer season. We are hoping that all of the repairs are completed as soon as possible but health and safety for all of the school community must continue to be our top priority. Camps - November 16 -18 We have two groups of children departing school to enjoy camps in a couple of weeks. The Year 5 classes are heading off to Sovereign Hillas part of the Australian History inquiry unit of work for two nights. The Year 4 children are heading to Blue Light Youth Campin Maldon for a road safety bike riding experience. We are all hoping that both camps experience some nice warm spring weather. Thank you to the staff that are attending both camps to ensure our children are safe, have fun and learn a lot of wonderful skills and concepts. We wish all of the children an exciting and positive camp experience!

GREEN TEAM NEWS

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

This term the Green Team are taking part in a fantastic Glen Eira Council sustainability initiative called ‘Keeping Our Oceans Plastic Free’. The Green Team have been asked to create a large bottle-cap ocean mural. The mural will represent the sea and its inhabitants, promoting the cause of keeping our rubbish out of the world’s oceans. The boards will be linked together with other school’s murals from around the Glen Eira area to make a great visual display and will be exhibited at Party in the Parks, an event taking placed at the beginning Of next year, details of the event will be released shortly. We need your help! We are asking for any donations of plastic bottle caps, or any other small unwanted plastic items to be bought to school and put in the blue plastic tub, located in the office area. So please don’t discard your bottle caps, send them to school! Thank you for your support.

Tucker Road School Aerobics Team Are you interested in joining a new and

exciting school aerobics team?

Tucker Road will be forming a brand new aerobics team. This is an opportunity for students to be in-

volved in a fantastic and inclusive team environment, whilst getting fit and performing with friends.

Philosophy of SCHOOLAEROBICS The main aim of SCHOOLAEROBICS is to provide primary school students with an avenue to improve

their fitness, confidence, health and self-esteem through participation in a healthy and fun competition.

What is SCHOOLAEROBICS?

SCHOOLAEROBICS is the largest interschool aerobic teams and single competition in Australia. Boys and

girls from Year 3-6 are eligible to compete. The event is structured to cater for the novice, intermediate

and elite standard competitors.

SCHOOLAEROBICS at Tucker Road Primary

SCHOOLAEROBICS is a fun, exciting and serious commitment. Students will be participating in a range of

competitions scheduled to commence early 2017, these will be held at The Arena in Geelong. Final event

dates will be released November 26th 2016. More information will follow once these dates are confirmed.

There will be a fee involved to cover the cost of entry and potentially other costs, including costumes.

Time Commitment

Students interested in participating will need to commit to attending one weekly rehearsal in 2016, and

more leading up to the competition.

If you would like your child to be a part of the Aerobics team please email Leonie at

[email protected]

Kind regards,

Leonie Wallis and Pip Cafiso
