We like girls who know how party. Singer, Carleigh Jade, and designer, Sa-mantha Sleeper are two of those kinds of ladies. Outfitting Carleigh in Sa-mantha’s pieces was a match made in fashion/music collaboration Heaven, so it wasn’t a surprise to any of us when the two hit it off. At the fitting before the shoot Samantha described Carleigh as the Samantha Sleeper type of girl — “a little bit downtown, a little bit uptown,” – which is totally Carleigh.

“I first listened to Carleigh’s music when I was in California and absolute-ly loved it.” Samantha says, who took the reigns and directed the entire shoot in Lower East Side with Carleigh.

‘TRENDING’Resort 2013

STEP away from the pool and into the forest, as Resort 2013 is looking as tribal as ever. Ani-mal prints, tribal patterns and rigged cutouts are heading our way. Model turned rising swimwear designer Angela Martini of Martini Bikini brings us a taste of the trend with an animal print and beading rush.

While my mother was getting a wash; head backwards, eyes to the ceiling, the own-er of the posh hair salon(white marble floors, no dogs and children allowed - type of salon) took me to a chair. He was the embodiment of all hair dresser clichés: a kind, loud French gentleman with insanely good hair. He looked at me through the mir-ror and simply asked; ‘what do you want?’ My answer was just as short and decisive; ‘purple-red hair’. With no further questions asked he pulled out his gear and gave me crimson locks. At ten years old, that was my first hair dye.

A year later I was doing it myself, spending my weekly allowance on every hair color available in the drugstore. From black, to aubergine, to platinum and my natural hair color has remained concealed ever since. I could almost call myself an expert, having nearly 14 years of hair dying experience.

To get cotton candy locks, be ready to deal with a cotton candy texture as well. Say goodbye to your styling iron, be prepared to lose length and volume and spend lots of pennies on hair masks and products. Be ready to pamper your hair like a little high maintenance baby.

If these warnings don’t scare you, read on. Because after all, it’s just hair and it will grow back.

Where to Shop + See

ILWYW.com#RISINGFASHION

This is the Rising Fashion movement, meant to bring us and fashion out of a stagnant state by intro-ducing it to a world of fresh talent in an inspring way. Through I Like What You’re Wearing (ILWYW.com) and its RUMPUS, Rising Fashion will now have a space to grow and express itself. Collaboration between rising writers, photographers, designers, and beyond, will finally allow rising fashion to come together and cause a bit of ruckus and shake things up.

This is exciting! This is inspiring! This is new. And I promise you — you’ll like what you see, and what you’re wearing. —Olivia Gossett, Founder + Director of ‘Ness

A toast to the wild ones; to those uncompromised by trend and rather find inspiration in the unique. To those willing to be bold and make a statement, and to those who appreciate that a creative collaboration is born when another’s art allows yours to be understood. A toast to all those dedicated to the artistry of style. To whom I dedicate this comment… To the design-ers and visionaries of I Like What You’re Wearing. Let the wild RUMPUS begin! —Alexandra Wachtel, Managing Director

Eh hem. We would like to introduce a movement. It’s a movement for the creators and consumers alike. So, either way, this is for you.
