CANTEEN CORNER Verena and Angelika would like to thank everyone for their continued support. The girls or one of their team are in the canteen each morning, so please do not hesitate to come up and say hello, they particularly like getting to know parents new to the school.
• Due to popular demand, happy hamburgers are back on the menu from this Friday, still made from lean beef mince, herbs & spices, that the girls roll each week. They can be ordered with or without cheese and for those extra special little people that prefer their burgers with just a patty in the bun and no extras!
• Turning Japanese Wednesdays are growing in popularity, with brown rice hand rolls made by our sushi chef. Please try to order before 5pm on Tuesdays to ensure your order can be fulfilled. Please note that this year the sushi is a single hand roll for $3.50, so you may like to order two for those with a healthy appetite.
• Our Roasted Chicken Drumsticks & Vegetables are proving very popular! Served with two free-‐range drumsticks, potato, carrot & zucchini, roasted with a little olive oil. Simple but delicious

School Uniform
We believe that wearing school uniform promotes pride in our school and sends a strong message to the community that we have high expectations and values. Students wear their summer uniform in Term 1 and Term 4, and winter uniform in Term 2 and Term 3. We appreciate parent and carer support in sending their children to school dressed smartly in correct school uniform. This includes black schoes and our RBPS hat. Please ensure your child’s full name and correct class are on all of their belongings. Our online uniform shop is available at www.youruniformshop.com.au Our uniform shop is open on Monday afternoon and Wednesday mornings.

We started the year off last Friday with a fabulous morning tea to welcome all of the new Kindy parents to Rose Bay Public School. So fantastic to see so many of you there and to have you join the P&C. This week we held our Annual General Meeting and the following officer bearers were elected for 2016.
Lisa Cahill President Kerryn Carter Vice President Sarah Dawes Vice President Michele Havas Treasurer Karen Finucane Secretary
A general meeting followed where we talked about upcoming events for the year and had a fantastic presentation from the Principal about the school’s goals and plans for 2016. Thank you to all those who attended and a reminder that meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month during term time in the Library at 7:00 pm. If you would like to join the P&C database for info and reminders please shoot us an email to [email protected] The camping trip being organised by families and friends of Rose Bay is on 4 March. Tickets are selling fast so see the flyer in this newsletter for details. Should be a fantastic event. Lisa Cahill P&C President
New P&C Vice President Sarah Dawes Introducing our new P&C VP Sarah Dawes. Sarah and her husband Mark have two children, Sophia in KN and two year old Bianca.
What are your first impressions of the school? Having lived in the Rose Bay area for the last 9 years, I have had numerous conversations with parents about school options within the area. Rose Bay Public has received glowing reviews over the years. In fact, I have never heard a bad word uttered about the school which made our decision for the girls a simple one . Now that our initiation into school life is complete, our expectations have been exceeded. The school presents itself beautifully, is exceptionally organised and Sophia has transitioned thus far, seamlessly.
How was the first week for your child? Overall Sophia has taken to big school like a fish to water. A few minor upsets at drop off but at pick up she is very happy, energetic and excited. We are anticipating a bit of a roll coaster ride, but overall, Soohia is confident and content.
Tell us something about yourself? Currently I am a full time mother. In a previous life (which seems so long ago) I worked in Sales in the publishing world. Print, online, events and all that jazz. I hope to return to the work force in the future, once Bianca is at preschool.
What motivated you to join the P&C? A general interest in Sophia's new environment and a desire to make a positive contribution to the school and community.
And lastly what does your family like to do for fun? We are simple folk really, catching up with family and friends is where we are happiest. We love the beach and park life which the eastern suburbs provides so well, and cultural adventures are often on the cards too; be it a museum trip or ballet.

RBPS 2016 Swimming Carnival
On Wednesday 3rd February our Swimming Carnival was held at Botany Aquatic Centre. All students had the opportunity to participate in a variety of races including freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. The carnival was a wonderful day for all involved including children, staff and the many parents who gave up their time to come along and support the event.
The day was a success thanks to the efforts of both our exceptional teachers who worked tirelessly through the heat and our very well behaved students. Well done and thank you all. Another thank you must go to our Sports Captains for their organisation and participation throughout the day.
Well done to EVERY student who got in the pool for one or many events on the day – every time you got in the pool you received a point for your house team! Congratulations to the swimmers listed below who excelled on the day – places are decided on the fastest times over ALL heats not individual races. Well done to Macquarie House for having the highest overall score on the day.

Update for all Schools using Parent Online Payment I am pleased to advise that POP is now user friendly on mobile devices. Behind the scenes Westpac has been working on an upgrade to the Parent Online Payment webpage attached to the school’s website. In the past using the ‘$ Make a payment” page through a mobile device or tablet has not been as easy as on a computer. Now, automatically, when parents click on this page, via a mobile device, they will be able to complete the online form with ease. Please see picture of the page running on a mobile device for your information.
Dogs on School Grounds
Many of us have dogs and we like to think our dogs are safe around children. Unfortunately, schools are not places where we should allow dogs to demonstrate/test such qualities. Even if we believe our dogs are placid, we cannot afford the risk of agitation by a child or vice versa. For this reason and the general safety of all our students, dogs are not permitted on our school grounds, including drop-‐off and pick-‐up times. Regardless of size or temperament, and whether a dog is on or off a leash or carried, no dogs are permitted on the grounds. Please do not tie dogs up at the entrance.
o The school participates in Scholastic Book Club which offers books at reasonable prices.
o Every order placed earns credits for your child’s teacher to purchase resources for the classroom and for the school library.
o Teachers distribute the grade-‐appropriate Book Club brochures to their students.
o Students return completed order forms and payments to the class teacher by the specified return date.
o Payment can be by cheque, cash or by online credit card payment.
o Parents must ensure that their child’s name and class is written clearly on the completed form, and on any sealed envelope used for payment. Please also provide a contact number.
o Within two weeks the books arrive and are distributed, which is always highly anticipated by those children who have placed orders.
If you have any queries about your orders, please contact the Scholastic Book Club parent volunteer concerned: Simi & Michael Hyde: 0424 595 350 / 0411 474 618 (Classes: Years K to 2) Leora Phillips: 0405 589 858 (Classes: Years 3 to 6)
