Dispelling Fear & Anxiety
In last week’s newsletter I introduced the Scripture we
are reflecting on as a school for the rest of this term
(Romans 5:5-8), highlighting how it gives direction for
the source of deep-seated hope and peace to dwell
within us. During the past week I have been reminded
in a number of ways how contrary this belief, this truth
is from what so many people are experiencing. Instead
of hope, the increasing position people find themselves
in is fear and anxiety.
In all sorts of ways our world and our society is falling
apart, is in decay but that shouldn’t be a surprise to us.
The apostle Paul writes in 2 Timothy 3, “But mark this:
There will be terrible times in the last days. People will
be … abusive, … ungrateful, … without self-control, …
conceited, …having a form of godliness but denying its
power. … You, however, know all about my teaching,
my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love,
endurance, persecutions, sufferings … Yet the Lord
rescued me from all of them. In fact, everyone who
wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be
persecuted, while evildoers and impostors will go from
bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. But as for
you, continue in what you have learned and have
become convinced of, … the Holy Scriptures, which are
able to make you wise for salvation through faith in
Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful
for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in
righteousness, so that the servant of God may be
thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
Let us be a people of hope and peace who can proclaim
“My hope is built on nothing less, than Jesus Christ, my
righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but
wholly lean on Jesus’ name.” and, in so doing, He will
dispel our fear and anxiety. In the words of another
song I have replayed a few times while travelling in the
car this last week; “O the blood of the Passover Lamb, is
applied to the door of my life. No power of darkness
could ever withstand, the force of the blood sacrifice.
Though Satan will bring accusations, I let him know
right where I stand. For now there is no condemnation,
I'm under the blood of the Lamb. I'm under the blood
of the Lamb, that covers the guilt of my past. By the
mercy of God, Holy and righteous I stand. I'm under the
blood of the Lamb, I'm safe and secure from the
enemy's plan. No weapon formed against me will
stand, I'm under the blood of the Lamb.”
Peter Nelson, continuing to reflect on and soak in the
Scripture of Romans 5:1-11

Prayer Points
For our Year 7 & 8’s, Mrs Carolyne McDonald and Corbz in the lead up to their Anglesea /
Ballarat camp between March 18th & 20
th.
For a regional gathering of Christian schools that we are hosting at RCCC on Saturday 21st March.
Just as the RCCC pioneers were moved by God to consider a different way for their children’s
education almost 40 years’ ago, as we approach and move beyond this significant milestone,
please continue in prayer and listening for what God now wants us to be and to do as a school
community.
Parents and friends are also welcome to a time of prayer for the school each Monday during the school
term, 8.50am to 9.15am, in the meeting room off the front office.
Fun Run on Monday 16th March
This annual RCCC mission fundraiser and an event that
helps select students to represent us at the Christian
Schools Events Network’s annual Cross-Country
Running Event in Melbourne later this year, starts off
at about 9.30am on Monday March 16th. The run is for
the whole school with a shorter route for Primary
students and while the hope is for all to run most of
the route, people can at least do a brisk walk for part
of it.
The event starts and finishes on the school oval but
extends around part of Rotary Park. Please come
prepared in your sports uniform for this day and
parents are welcome to cheer on the participants.
Sponsorship forms have been sent home last Friday
and it’s hoped that all students can collect sponsors
from people they know so that we can further support
the child we sponsor in Rwanda through Compassion
and also the Echuca Community Food Bank. If you
need another sponsorship form, please ask at the
school front office.

School Working Bee—this Saturday
Our first working bee for this year is from 8am to 12
noon on Saturday March 14th as we get together at the
school to catch up on some building and grounds
maintenance tasks. Please come when you can and
leave when you need to but we hope to have morning
tea together at about 10.30am so try to be there for
that! We will plan to have the tools and materials
needed but if you have some tools or protective
equipment that you prefer to use, please bring them
along.
Parent Teacher Meetings, Wednesday March 25th
Booking request information has been sent out for
these meetings that occur during a couple of hours
after school on March 25th and if you need another
request form please contact the office.
This is a great opportunity to share information
between parents and teachers so as we are all better
equipped to support the development of the young
people who are part of RCCC.
Your confirmation slip will be sent home by Fri, 20th
March.
You are welcome to have your children with you at
the relevant meetings although there may be times
when it’s best that they step outside. Please make the
necessary arrangements for the care of your children
between the end of the school day at 3.15pm and the
start of your appointments.
PREMIER’S ACTIVE APRIL
Now in its twelfth year, Premier’s Active April continues to
help Victorians join in the fun of increased physical activity.
Premier’s Active April encourages all Victorians to do 30
minutes of physical activity a day during April. It’s free, it’s
fun and it’s part of the Victorian Government’s commitment
to getting more people active and healthy. Start small and
remember that every little bit counts. It’s an easy way to
kick start a healthier you!
As a participant, you can log your daily activity and track
your progress with the Activity Timer on the mobile or web
App. This year, the all-new Fitbit integration makes it even
easier to track your activity throughout April. You can also

members and explore the My Offers feature to discover
events, offers and facilities that are available across Victoria.
The Get Active Workout Program provides instructional
videos with helpful tips and tricks to keep active each day at

week is the first event that our Beacon leaders will be

speaking from the stage. Many local business leaders will be

the program is encouraged.
Marriage
The heading on a recent Focus on the Family email caught my attention and it went on to say "Differences can
drive a married couple apart until the husband and wife feel like they have little in common." It further interested
me with these words: "We often find ourselves lost in the busyness of our modern society; technology addiction is
at an all-time high, and we're busier than ever with work, sports and other activities taking away precious time
from families. It's not always an obvious thing but when you catch yourself scrolling through social media for an
hour, completely tuned out, you know somethings wrong." I then clicked on the link headed "How to restart your
marriage" https://www.families.org.au/article/how-restart-your-marriage and found it well worth reading for
whatever stage of marriage we are in - I hope you do too. Peter Nelson

The Royal Flying Doctors Service Incursion
On Friday, we also got to learn facts about the Royal Flying Doctors Service. Tom brought a simulator to school and we got to go inside and experience how it works. My favourite part in the simulator was having a chat with Mrs Kelly through headphones, just like they would do in real life. By Gabriella.
After lunch, the Swan class went to visit Tom. Tom let us hop in the plane and it was fun. Then, we got to drive the plane, but not in the air. Then, we got to wear the dress-ups. I was a nurse. When Mrs Coughlin was taking the photo, the pants fell down. Then, Gabie and I both shared pants and we couldn’t get out, but we finally got out. By Miley. In the simulator cockpit, there was a game and I loved it and it looked 3-dimensional. By Emmett.
RFDS stands for Royal Flying Doctors Service. The RFDS is really important because they save or change people’s lives. It doesn’t matter where you are as they’re still available to help. By Charlotte. On Friday 28th of February, we saw the Royal Flying Doctors Service and it was a lot of fun. We talked about the aeroplane called Ray and we got to dress up. That was my favourite bit. Charlotte and I dressed up as Royal Flying Doctors Service pilots. I wore pants, a top, a hat and sunnies. Charlotte wore a top, a hat and sunnies. She didn’t wear pants because there were no more pants. By Georgia. Tom, from the RFDS, came to our school. Phoebe and I went into a simulator and got to sit in the cockpit. It was fun. By Jack.
