1 Dance & Improvisation (Michael Cretu)A contemporary classical piece for solo Double Bass. Inspired by an oldRomanian Folk tune about a horse thief, caught by the Captain of theCounty, he pleads for his release as he only stole to feed his starving family. The piece contains elements of Jazz and traditional Folk themes.

2 Balkan Connection (Michael Cretu/Traditional)Michael developed The Balkan Connection from a Balkan and NorthAfrican tune, which plays at the start of the piece. Here the trio come closerto the Jazz Funk style and fuse the musical languages of North Americaand the Balkans.

3 Nine Steps (Michael Cretu/Traditional)The inspiration for Nine Steps was again a Folk tune from the Balkans. The irregular time of 9/8 (2+2+2+3) and the harmonic structure E-F-Dm-Eare the starting points of the piece. The piece combines three musicalstyles: Folk, Contemporary Classic and Jazz.

The harmonic, melodic and rhythmic structure become more complexas the improvisation develops. The long duration of the piece allowsa full development of these musical elements. In the improvisation, the continuous dialogue between the piano and the drums allows theintroduction of Classical Contemporary music (Bartok, Stravinsky)and free Jazz.

Double Bass/Composer: Michael Cretu. Michael is an internationallyacclaimed musician and composer. He has written and performed as partof a chamber group, funded by the European Union to promote the workof contemporary classical composers. As a solo performer and with his trioMichael has performed at Cité des Arts-Paris, Grand National RadioHall-Bucharest, Royal Academy of Music-London, Royal Northern Collegeof Music-Manchester, Queen’s Hall-Edinburgh Festival, BridgewaterHall-Manchester, Manchester Cathedral, Purcell Room-London, and St JamesPiccadilly-London.

Michael is a strong believer in the beauty of weaving together the musicalstyles of Contemporary, Classical, Folk and Jazz.

Drums: Mikey Wilson. Mikey is one of the most celebrated drummers inthe UK. Previous collaborations include Lamb, Texas, Corinne Bailey Rae.

Piano: George King. George is a classically trained pianist and composer. He recently played New York's Carnegie Hall and reached the finalof the Moscow Jazz festival.

Michael Cretu compositions published byLiben Music Publishers, Cincinnati, USA and Recital Music, UK.

EffecTech Metering Services

A common misconceptiona series of . . . .There is often a misconception that modern ‘fiscal standard’ gas

metering systems are ‘fit and forget’ black box systems - just

scaled up versions of your gas meter at home in fact. This is most

definately not the case.

Large volume/high pressure gas metering systems are complex

and made up of a number of separate flow measurement

elements, pressure and temperature transducers, all of which are

susceptible to drift and error over time.

In addition, it is vital that the flow computer/volume corrector

system is correctly set up, configured and commissioned, and is

using the most appropriate correction constants and parameters.

Only if all of these separate components are regularly validated

and calibrated to a high professional standard, can you be certain

of the lowest possible metering uncertainty (i.e. best accuracy)

from the system as a whole.

specialists in gas measurement

Gas costs are high. But is your metering accurate?

Who is responsible for checking

the gas metering and billing?

Is it your gas shipper, the transporter (National Grid)

or you the customer?

You may in fact own, operate and maintain your own meters.

Or . . .

You may be billed against meters owned and maintained by National

Grid Gas, or by your local gas regional transporter. If this is the case,

you may also in addition have your own check metering on site -

possibly to comply with EU ETS (Carbon Trading Scheme) requirements.

If you are involved with an industrial plant or CHP that burns large quantities of

natural gas, how can you be certain that the gas metering system against which

your company is billed is accurate, and that your bills are therefore correct ?

With today’s high fuel gas prices - which are likely to rise even more in the future -

now is the time to focus on gas metering and billing.

How much, in financial terms, would the cummulative effect of even a 1% over

read by your gas metering be costing your company every year?
