In-Design Brochure Project

This project I came into with a great sense of mind and enjoyed the most out of as typography, color and brochure design were my strong points.

For this project I decided to do a tourism brochure on my hometown of Bracebridge. Using information I had gotten from the tourism website I was able to create a cohesive design, using the characteristics of the Brace-bridge emblem that you can see at the bottom right-hand corner on page 1.

For color, I tried to break some ground away from the stark white and try to blend more natural colors which speak to the town of Bracebridge with light shades of green and blue.

With the text I made sure to keep the space on the inside of the page a fair amount for readability. I also made sure to keep headers and sub headers consistent throughout the piece. For a final touch, I feathered each picture for a more subtle but warm effect while also providing lots of breathing space for text.

Publication Endangered Species Brochure

Being already versed in several created brochures, this project was an enjoyable task that I took full vantage of.

First I had to gather info on an endanger species, which lead me to www.Cheetah.org. There I found a gold mine of information advertising about the con-servation of the cheetah. As an added bonus, using the actual info of the website allowed me to construct this brochure.

For the color theme I took inspiration from the two photos I gathered for the project, with light shades of orange and use of the subtle background image.

Publication Book Cover Rede-sign

For this project, I had to take a unique perspective into the overall design from the story of the book series I was doing, which was difficult at first to even find a series which I truly thought needed a redesign. I had then caught eye of the first initial design of the Twilight series.

First of all, I could not relate the book covers to the movie at all. In fact it confused me as to what the message actually was on the cover. So I went into deeper thought of what I could do, where I got stuck in thought.

Then my Girlfriend (who read all the books), gave the sug-gestion to do a tree for the covers using the colors of season. It made perfect sense with the storyline, Got together in the summer, separated in the fall, married in the spring and fought in the winter.

It was perfect because of how immersed the stories were in nature. But I had to connect it emotionally, so I added charac-ter shapes (each depicting the characters involved), To better connect the story.

Nebula Artistry Brand Identity ProjectThis Project came as a real challenge to take all the

skills I have learned and apply them to a singular proj-ect.

I had to understand the use of typography, colors, Imagery and symbolism from a single short description of the company.

For the creation of the logo I started with the choice of symbolism and font, which I looked at examples of outer-space advertisements and brochures that related to space in some way. I common theme of font some-times had Capital Serif font styles, along with using planetary shapes and colors.

With that, I created a quarter moon shape fused with the first letters of “Artistry” and “Nebula” in a cohe-sive form. Next was positioning the rest of the text in relation to the two letters within the emblem. With that, I tried to keep the lead space to a minimum and not over-extend it to keep the two words related and uniform while still having good readability. For the font choice I selected Optimus Principus, a custom free font collected from Dafont.com which fit the specifics I wanted perfectly.

Color Scheme was an easy obstacle, as I already had color references from the outer-space pictures I looked at. I settled with using variations of red, purple and dark gray for the main logo and blue, blue-green for the dark contrast items.

Next was the overall theme and business designs, using shapes and clusters of “Nebula” as a reference I created cloud-like formations rotating around a circular object (like a planet or a star).

The overall result turned into an excellent piece for my very first brand design which inspired me to further develop my skill in brand identity and publication.

Personal Brand Identity Final School ProjectThis Project was ultimately the challenge which

would combine all my skills, my hopes and goals to-gether and who I wish to be as a graphic designer.

I first started with 30 different concepts, 6 of which I selected were the best and only 2 for color adaption.

With my five top values, Creativity, Excellence, Dedication, Integrity and Communication; I settled with Engorge Graphics which was later renamed to Enflame Graphics. Warmth, the power to ignite change, to create, to bring together, to ignite the soul; these are the messages communicated from the brand that I hold dear to my heart.

What I looked back after I was done was the heart and soul of my work, something that has set the stan-dard for me and my future projects.

The color, selection of font, the presentation of the let-terhead and the business card all exceeded my expecta-tions and that of my instructor.

I now currently use this as my personal brand for my business cards and letters as proof of my hard work.

Typography Final School Project: Type PosterThis project required a more personal

touch with imagery, something that brought out the emotional response of art. I decided to recreate an image of my beautiful girlfriend, something that I knew that I dearly wanted to finish.

I started with the picture and changed it to a gray scale image for the gray adjustment. Then, letter by letter, I changed each individual letter to match the gray color behind it in a large wall of text.

It was really challenging to undertake for this project and many times I would step back just to be sure I captured the “essence” of the image.

It took exactly 32 hours of dedicated work to finish the gray adjustment and 4 hours of constant adjustment to the text arrangement, colors and vector shapes.

Overall, it was a wonderful piece that I enjoyed whole-heartedly as she was my inspiration to go back to school for graphic design and do not regret for a second.

Typography Advertisement Posters: Typography Hierar-

The challenge presented here was getting each poster to make sense for each individual Hierarchy. Each poster had to be catered to each of the organizations interests, so each poster had a different hierarchy from one another.

Through the use of Color, Imagery and Hierarchy I was able to achieve a poster for each organization while keeping a related theme. Vectors for the violin were produced using an image of an actual violin. Through the use of negative and positive space I was able to cre-ate an abstract shape to give the posters more character.

I then went on to add musical notes for a series of vector files I had on hand to continue the flow of the poster to give a playful, beauty feel.

Overall I believe there was good use of typography, kerning, positioning of elements and if I were to im-prove anything, it would be through the use of graphics and a possible font adjustment.

As always, I am always looking for more opinions to help improve any piece and welcome the feedback with open arms.

E-sports Revolution Brand Identity Cover & Banners

This project was for a legitimate sponsor for profes-sional gaming to one specific game called Halo 4. The project was about community involvement in both with the professional players and community multi-player map creators.

My goal was to create banners for new postings on websites with their current brand logo.

I started with discussing with the co-owner about what font and color scheme that would be ideal. We decided upon a bold, sans-serif large capital font for a bold effect, to present a flashy but sturdy font that would speak about the modern feel of the project.

The banners served well to their needs, all of which was of no charge from me because of my involvement with the community.

London Tatto parlour - Hanging BannerThis project was one of the first of design work that

I ever did at Speedpro Imaging. When I first got thier concept of their logo, I tried taking some of the charac-teristics of their logo and incorprate it into the design of the banner.

However, as it turns out they really didn’t like how their logo was in the first place. So the first concept was scratched from the table and what was decided was that they would like a far more simplier and bolder design.

So I tried three very basic designs and even changed the logo for something a little more bold. So to give the banner more “pop”, I decided to give a black back-ground.

There was also hanging signs that were designed in a similar manner, with one minor difference in the logo design. Soon enough, the designs were approved and production was underway. I did most of the production on the large banners and my fellow colleage helped finish the crezon signs.

Speedpro Imaging Rink BannerThis project was one of the very first designs I worked

on and produced out of the shop. While the two logos were not of my design, the positioning, font and back-ground were of my design.

The owners allowed me the creative freedom in this project and with a fwe tweaks to position wwe got it printed at 2’ x 8’ on the large format printer. This proj-ect allowed me to learn the process of production from start to finish. I did all the lamination and trimming for this project.
