Sunday School Outlined

I. CBBC is a home for the advancement of everybody’s potentials.

A. It is the best place for teaching Christians to hone their aptitudes or talents for the Lord.

B. It is the best place for training Christians to harness their abilities or skills for the ministry.

II. CBBC is a habitation of some of the great Christian leaders.

A. It produces determined preachers and pastors.

JESUS CHRIST said in Matthew 16:18, “…Upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

Our 31st Church Anniversary is a proof of such truth. We thank God that we belong to a Christ-planted church, which He personally nurtures and nourishes. Gratefulness to God is what we express as we witness in today’s celebration His power through the salvation of souls, the baptism of converts, the revival of members, and the lifting up of His name. Likewise, we offer our praises to Him for His faithfulness in our lives, as we reminisce His goodness to our Church … preserving us during the first critical years of our beginnings when hardships, discouragements, and persecutions attacked us. Glory be to Him for our Church history reflects His story of compassion, grace, and victory! This is just the first Sunday, and we are expecting for another triumphant Sunday! Your service for Him will be blessed! Let us keep on praying, participating, and persevering… all for God’s glory!

IT was in 1976 when Pastor Ed, while pastoring a church in Camalig, Albay, had an eye problem that led him to go to Manila every month for a checkup. While traveling, the train that he was riding had an engine

trouble and it literally stopped in the San Pedro train station. It was on that day that God gave him a spiritual vision, despite his physical eye affliction, to behold with compassion, the people in San Pedro, Laguna. With God’s leading, Dr. Ed and his wife, with their three-month-old daughter, Mishael, stepped into the soil of the Laguna province in 1978. The family traveled in a rented jeepney to the last block of East San Pedro, Laguna and settled there. Christian Baptist Mission formally opened its first Sunday service on January 22, 1978 with 13 young people/adults and 29 children. The work began as Pastor Ed went soulwinning and door knocking, three hours each in the morning, afternoon, and evening.

1979 On January 23, 1979, the mission was organized into an independent, Bible-believing Baptist church, bearing the name, Christian Baptist Church, which was sent out from Octagon Bible Baptist Church in Pasig. After the organization, soulwinning, visitations and door-knocking were intensified and more members were added to the church.

1980 This year marked the growth of the Church as more and more members were added and the people were taught to give. It held its first anniversary and celebrated the giving of first fruits offering. Also the church started to support missions.

1981 The growing Church was put to a serious test when some of the members rebelled against the Pastor. They did not like the way Dr. Ed led the church and wanted him to leave. However being sure of his calling, he stayed and the rebels went away. The attendance went down to an average of 40, but this did not dampen the spirit of the Church. With much faith and hard work, the attendance picked up again. This year, the Church moved to a new location in San Pedro Ice Plant along the National Highway. With continued hard work, prayer and giving, the place could no longer accommodate the growing number of people. This same year marked the birth of the first daughter church in Los Baños, Laguna.

1982 Being challenged by the split, Dr. Ed decided to do more for God’s glory. The Church attendance grew and reached up to 100-150 and there was a need for more teachers and preachers. Pastor Ed and his wife started a mini-institute for Sunday School Teachers and Preachers with 4 subjects. They had 17 attendees whom they taught twice in a week.

1983 There was need for a new and bigger place to occupy the growing number of people. Together with the members, the Pastor found a lot in St. Francis Homes II Subdivision. Prayer vigils were held with members in every corner of the lot, claiming the property. Indeed their prayers were answered and God gave the 500 sq.m through their generosity in involving themselves in “sacrificial giving.”Construction began even if the church’s cash in hand was just half of the lot price.

1984-1985 Before the year 1984 ended, the Church occupied the building with just the roof and walls. The first service encouraged the members to give more. The Pastor continually encouraged the Church to give to complete the walls and the roof. As the Lord graciously provided, the building was finished after a year. Along with the Church’s improvements in terms of physical facilities was the progress of its ministries. With such was the change of the Church’s name into Christian Bible Baptist Church (CBBC). Moreover, the mini-Bible Institute became a Summer Bible Institute. Classes were then held daily with three additional instructors. A Church-school ministry began in 1985 with six volunteer staff trained using the Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) curriculum. ...TO BE CONTINUED

Preparations For The House of Godby Bro. Jeffrey ManzoArea 17

“For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.” Psalm 84:10 (1-12)

D AVID showed his love to the House of God by expressing his longing for it, like a sparrow

acuiring a nest its dwelling. (verse 2) As a Christian we need to have a desire to always go to the house of God every service especially during Sundays. As we go to the house of God we should be prepare ourselves.

1. We should have a healthy body. Vs.5-7 Our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit according to 1 Cor.6:19. We need to take good care of our body. We should sleep right, eat healthy food and eat breakfast before going to church. We should do some exercise and take a quiet time to pray. We must realize that a healthy body produces

a healthy mind to make us understand the Word of God.

2. We should have a hungry soul. V. 2Every time we go to church we should crave for the Word of God. Let us give importance to the Word of God and listen carefully to the preaching, so that our lives would be changed and challenged in His service.

3. We should have an empty heart. Vs. 9-12Our Pastor always tells us that every time we come to church, we should have an empty heart so that God can work and move in our lives. The house of God is the spiritual operating room of the heart. We must let God open, search and clean us as we pray to Him that He grants us an admonishable, teachable and correctable heart.

In verse 10, the Psalmist desires to be a doorkeeper in the house of God rather than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. Brethren, we should thank God that we have a Church, that teaches us the pure Word of God, and we have a Pastor who challenges us to serve the true and living God. a
