I. The foundation of knowledge is Jesus Christ.

A. The foundation or the bedrock of knowledge is in the person of Jesus Christ.

V ICTORY in Jesus Christ!” This is the spirit that pervades and the experience that prevails in today’s second Sunday-celebration of our 31st Church Anniversary. Indeed, God’s church that is built

upon the Rock, the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ remains steadfast. We in CBBC are such, as we claim our beginnings from the Lord, Who declared in Matthew 16:18, “…Upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” We are filled with thanksgiving to God Who is always enabling us to do His will. Our very own CBBC History affirms His strengthening power that has been uplifting us in our prayer-pursuits, that has been upholding us in our soulwinning-endeavours, and has been upbraiding us in our slothfulness-fruitlessness. Yes, His empowerment keeps reminding us that with Him, it can be done. Our accomplishment today shows our trust in His strengthening power. I commend you for working with your area leaders to bring visitors, to invite people, to share the Gospel, and to live for the Lord. Together, let us enjoy celebrating our Church Anniversary as God’s strengthened Church. There is more that we can do, as we keep on sowing Gospel seed, sharing salvation story, supplicating for power, and showing our godly testimony - all by His grace!

the Strengthening of the ChurchCelebrating 31 years of God’s faithfulness

the Beginning of the Church the Flourishing of the Church the Advancing of the Church

1986 Alotbesidethefirstbuilding was constructed to house the Christian Bible Baptist Academy which started with 30 students. Likewise, the Bible Seminary was formally organized with 7 instructors and 9 students. The second mission work was opened in Batangas province, and so was another outreach in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in the Middle East.

1987-1988 This year, CBBC reached its goal and broke the 450 attendance record. To accommodate the growing number of people, the members gave sacrificiallyandanotheradjacent lot was purchased. Construction began in this same year. Simultaneous with the building expansion was the steady increase in attendance. The construction continued until 1988-1989.

1989 A decade of blessing. the Church celebrated its 10th Anniversary, which was indeed remarkable as it helditsfirstmotorcadetoinvitepeopleforthebigday.ThisisthefirstoneinthehistoryofBaptistchurchesinthe Philippines. It was during the early 1990’s that the Saturday Night Class, known as Sabbath School was initiated for the “frontliners,” who miss Sunday School on Sunday mornings because of their ministries such as ushering and teaching children’s Sunday School. Today, over 200 frontliners regularly gather on Saturday nights.

1990 The “Old Building” was completed and dedicated. By that time, the average attendance of the church reached 1,000. From 1986-1990 the FTVs registered twice the average recorded in 1978-1985.

1991 The average attendance reached 1,000 with the record of 60 baptismsThesecondfloorofthebuildingwasfirstusedforthegraduationceremonyofthefirstbatchof both the CBBA and the Bible Seminary graduates. The Lord added faithful and cheerful giving members and CBBC was able to share the blessings by supporting 48 churches and missions all over the Philippines. The attendance doubled until the end of the end of the year.

1992-1993 A church in California, USA was started in the year 1992. The church attendance continued to grow. Likewise, the CBBC hosted its First National Pastors and Workers’ Conference in 1993 as 273 pastors and workers attended the event. God blessed the Church again and with that, it has purchased another property in the same street where the Church auditorium was located. The weekly attendance was more or less 1,200. A total of 3,236 firsttimevisitorsand543baptismswererecordedforthisyearalone.

1994 From 1990-1994, more than 2,000 FTVs were brought in each year. In 1994, God has blessed CBBC to have Dr. Jack Hyles to preachinitspulpitforthefirsttime.Thedeafandmuteministrywasalso started during this year.

1995-1996 In 1995, more than 3,000 FTVs were registered and the average attendance pegged at 1,421. The continuing increase in attendance required a bigger auditorium. A 280 sq.m. lot was purchased and a new auditorium was constructed. The Area Soulwinning Program was reinforced with the aim: “Always Ready to Evangelize Anybody” with 13 Areas led by able men. This program is one of the Church’s most powerful strategies in insuring that many people are reached. Christians, both “old” and “new” have the opportunity to involve in area soulwinning, Bible studies, tract distribution and house to house visitation. Hence, it has be-come a valuable tool in boosting church attendance and an effective means in uniting the members to achieve church goals.•Moremissionswereestablishedintolocalchurches.•TheLovingHands(Orphanage)Ministrycameintoexistencetoshelterandcarefororphanedchildren.•TheChristianBibleBaptistSeminaryadoptedthenameBaptistHeritageBibleSeminary.
