St. Anthony of Padua: in answering God’s call as a very young man, gave up a life of comfort and wealth; spent may years devoted to prayer and Scripture; became first friar to teach theology to other friars. He preached to heretics and used his profound knowledge of Scripture and theology to help convert them.

The God of the universe is mysterious. Science has not been able to solve the mystery of how the
universe came into being or explain exactly what continues to give it creative energy and masterful
design. No religion asserts that it has found words to name fully the ineffable mystery of God, for no
matter what name we use, God always transcends our limited ability to understand. God is a
mystery to be believed, not known. And yet, we Christians believe that our name for God best
expresses that inexpressible mystery: God is the Most Holy Trinity of three persons united in a
communion of love, pouring forth that creative, saving, sanctifying love into the world. Today’s
scriptures celebrate the mystery of the Trinity and give us clues for living that mystery in our lives.
TODAY’S READINGS First Reading — The Lord, merciful and gracious, rich in kindness and faithfulness (Exodus 34:4b-6, 8-9). Psalm — Glory and praise for ever! (Daniel 3). Second Reading — Brothers and sisters, rejoice. Live with one another in peace, and the God of peace will be with you (2 Corinthians 13:11-13). Gospel — God did not send the Son to condemn the world, but to give it abundant life (John 3:16-18).

T rinity Sunday is the first Sunday after Pentecost. It celebrates the Trinity, the three
Persons of God (Triune God): the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
C ourage is the willingness
to suffer for what is true,
good, and beautiful. The
desire to be courageous is
written into the fiber of a
man’s being and the
Church’s understanding of masculinity is
sacrifice. Effeminacy, on the other hand, is the
reluctance to sacrifice and act with courage.
Tragically, call to authentic masculinity is barely
perceptible in the culture today leading to a
vacuum of destruction. True masculinity is
embodied by Jesus Christ in his sacrifice on the
Cross, which all Christians must imitate daily.

Effective Communications Strategies
This FREE program will be held on Wednesday, June 21, from 2:00-3:00pm (sign in at 1:30 pm) at Good Shepherd Nursing Home's classroom. Enter from the south parking lot.
Presenter: Morgan Pavol, WV Alzheimer's Assoc.
Communication is more than just talking and
listening. It's also about sending and receiving
messages through attitude, tone of voice, facial
expressions and body language. As people
with Alzheimer's and related dementias progress
in their journey and the ability to use words is
lost, families need new ways to connect. Join
us to explore how communication takes place
when someone has Alzheimer's, learn to
decode the verbal and behavioral messages
delivered by someone with dementia, and
identify strategies to help you connect and
communicate at each stage of the disease.
Altenheim Resource & Referral Services is partnering with Good Shepherd Nursing Home to bring this FREE program to the community in observance of Brain Health Awareness Month and The Longest Day.

Our summer project involves hunger of may kids in our area. This program is called the Back Pack Program with the House of Carpenter. Back packs are filled with food for kids that have no food on weekends. We asks for single servings of ramen noodles, single packs of oatmeal, pop tarts, pudding
