    John Bunker Education Philosophy Statement

Education involves creating well rounded students that are prepared to advance through

life. I believe teachers create the future, and it is up to us to assure, to the best of our abilities,

each student is given an opportunity to be successful in life. While we do not control whathappens outside of the school walls or off the campus, we can provide students with knowledge

and other life skills while in the school environment.

I believe this begins with standards based education and assuring the students receive the

curriculum requirements as designated by the state and school districts. While this often appears

to be very prescribed, I believe it can be done in an exciting and motivating way which students

can personally connect through the use of my sense of humor and variety of life experiences.

The more captivated students are, the more likely they are to actually grasp and utilize the

material throughout their lives. If you enter teaching with a fun, positive attitude, the children

will perceive the learning experience to be fun as well and crave more and more knowledge

    throughout their lives.

This is also made possible through the environment I create within my classroom. While

I set high expectations for all students, I also provide them with the tools they need in order to be

successful. Each and every student has different needs, and I believe in reaching each and every

one of my students each and every day. This involves a multifaceted approach to teaching,

incorporating techniques proven effective for various learning styles. It incorporates techniques

which meet the unique needs of English language learners and students with disabilities. By

being conscience of the unique qualities of all learners, I provide for the greatest amount of

equity in learning for all students.

I also believe it is critical that they learn to respect and understand other races, cultures,

religions, and nations. We, as a nation, are becoming more and more diverse with each and

every day, and it is important for the children to develop an appreciation for other people and

aspects of their lives that may be different. I also strive to instill high ethical and moralstandards. By building a great rapport with my students I create an environment where they

understand the importance of practicing kindness, patience, and understanding.

As a teacher, I am critical to the development of the next generation of citizens, and it is

my responsibility to assure they have the knowledge and skills to be successful throughout their

    lives.
