Hello,

God has been kind enough that it rained in India in the month of June. Most of the states suffered drought but Gujarat had some special showers of rains as well as blessings to fight the heat and even help for the poor farmers. Its a good news that more than one thousand five hundred people are shifted to a safe location of the flood affected areas like Amreli and Rajkot.

RE/MAX Metro had a vibrational month wherein we successfully closed two rental deals, one sale deed and a few deals on the verge of closing. The best thing is we even participated in a couple of events like :

1. Educational event organised by ARA(Ahmedabad Realtor Association). It was so good to hear different speakers coming from varied fields, which would help us to understand the clients/builders better so that we

can generate more business in the long run.

2. Participation in Cricket Match Organised by RE/MAX Gujarat at Savvy Swaraj Township gave us an excellent chance to network as all the members of RE/MAX family joined hands under one roof. It wont be inap-propriate if we say that when the work place is fun to come then business is bound to come.

Greece is in crisis and is on brink of bankruptcy, it faces a debt default within 48 hours after the govern-ment made clear it will not repay a €1.5bn loan to the IMF that expires. This will have lots of effect on economy of other countries and we wish all countries

together solve this issue and bail out Greece from the difficult situation.

Current AffairsIndia becomes most attractive investment destination: BPI 2015India has become most attractive investment destination in world after it was ranked first among 110 countries in a ranking of destinations for attractiveness to foreign investors. The ranking was based on baseline profitability index (BPI) 2015. In this edition of China was placed at the 65th position and US was placed at the 50th. India has emerged as top investment des-tination in BPI 2015 compared to previous 6th position held in the 2014 index. It should be noted that high ranking in this index indicates high returns and improving economic institutions. India was able to top in this edition of BPI because of high growth forecasts, perceptions of corruption down and investor friendly polices of Union Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

About Baseline profitability index (BPI)

The ranking based on a BPI is determined by assuming three factors which affect the ultimate success of a foreign investment.

These factors are how much the value of an asset grows; the ease of repatriation of proceeds from selling the asset and the preservation of that value while the asset is owned.

The index combines measures for each of these factors into a summary statistic to determine country’s basic attractiveness for investment.

Thus, this index compares how local conditions and policies affect the same investment in different countries.

It also helps to determine the value of the principal and the return will change depending only on where the investment is made.

Shares of housing finance companies were in the spotlight on Thursday, surging up to 5%, after the government gave its approval to the launch of 'Housing for All by 2022' scheme, paving the way for affordable homes to the urban poor and slum dwellers at lower interest rates. LIC Housing Finance surged 4.63% while Dewan Housing Finance Corporation rose 4.21% on BSE. Others like GIC Housing Finance gained 4% and Indiabulls Housing Finance advanced 3%. The Union Cabinet accepted the recommendations of an Inter-Ministerial Committee to increase interest subvention to 6.50% on housing loans to beneficiaries belonging to economic weaker section (EWS), including slum-dwellers and low-income groups (LIGs). The Cabinet's decision will benefit the urban poor by an amount of nearly Rs 2.30 lakh each and as a result, the monthly EMI will come down by nearly Rs 2,852 per month. NDA's flagship scheme will be formally launched on June 25 when the government will bring out guidelines for its implementation.

Health SectionE-cig Risks Unclear To SmokersA new study has suggested that consumers are unclear about the risks or benefits of e-cigarettes.

They generally viewed e-cigarettes as distinct from other nicotine replacement products like patches or gum that are designed to help people quit. Because general practitioners give nicotine alternatives to smokers trying to quit, the study participants tended to think of these as medical products.

With e-cigarettes, however, people were less clear about what their intended purpose or correct use might be, though they were seen as less directly tied to smoking cessation than patches or gum.

Some people saw e-cigarettes as a more satisfying replacement to smoking, while others viewed them as less desirable or even as a threat to smoking cessation.

The study appears in the journal Tobacco Control.

Housing for all by 2022" sends housing finance stocks soaring

The Scotland study suggested that while some smokers consider electronic cigarettes a potential aid in quitting, some people who have already quit see them as a temptation to resume a habit they fought hard to ditch, Fox News reported.

Researchers in interviewed 64 smokers and found little consensus about the potential benefits and harms of e-cigarettes, which may reflect division in the medical community on the appropriateness of promoting e-ciga-rettes as a safer alternative to the real thing, the authors note

Senior author Amanda Amos from the University of Edinburgh Medical School said that because e-cigarettes are relatively new products we are only beginning to learn about the health risks.

Amos and colleagues conducted 12 focus groups and 11 individual interviews with current smokers and people who had quit smoking within the past year. Most participants viewed smoking as a form of addiction and believed willpower played a strong role in quitting. Almost all of them had tried e-cigarettes at least once.

World Environment Day, RE/MAX TreePLOn the occasion of World Environment Day, RE/MAX Gujarat has announced the launch of India’s first of its kind Tree Plantation League for Amdavadis. A function was organized to launch Tree Plantation League or TreePL in the presence of The Hon’ble Cabinet Minister for Forest & Environ-ment Shri Mangubhai Patel and Hon’ble Mayor Ahmedabad City, Smt. Meenakshiben Patel. The President of Yuva Unstoppable Mr. Amitabh Shah and DFO Mr. Prabuddha also graced the occasion which involved presentation on TreePL by RE/MAX Regional Owner Shri. Manan Choksi. The mega launch was followed by planting of saplings by the attendees. Commenting on this occasion Manan Choksi, Regional Director, RE/MAX Gujarat said, “With the launch of TreePL, we have extended our commitment towards society and environment. Sustain-ability and maintenance are the key factors for tree plantation activity. We are confident that TreePL will encourage people to plant and grow more trees and maintain them. We are trying to find avenues to make it possible for each and every one to plant at least one sapling alongwith proper nurturing so that in a year’s time, by the next Environment Day, we will have a substantial increase in our green cover.”RE/MAX has taken this green initiative out of concern for the disappearing greens. Real estate is slowly encroaching in the green areas of the city so such ventures will definitely help to alleviate the effects of the burgeoning city and its population. The company has made it possible for all to participate, right from developers, builders, owners of plotted lands, schools and other institutes through the TreePL Contest. The TreePL contest encourages citizens to plants saplings and nurture them adequately so that by the next World Environment Day their efforts can be impartially judged based on the increase in the green cover contributed by them. The final results are going to be decided by an eminent jury of environmentalists and participants have the chance to win prize money in lakhs. People can also participated by contributing to the prize money fund in their own way.
