THE KERaKoLL® GuaRaNTEEd SoLuTioN FoR LayiNGWith two years of research at GreenLab, Kerakoll® has developed the first of its kind guaranteed eco-compatible system certified for mechanical properties, durability and adhesion for laying floor tiles and natural stones. The new system works exactly as the traditional one but it is much easier to use and resolves all the problems such as low durability of screed, cracks, stains on tiles and stones, damp rise through walls and weak adhesion.

The Keracem® Eco together with the Kerakoll® Quartzo creates a uniform, normal set and fast drying screed with consistent mechanical properties and high durability. Tack Eco is especially developed to be used with the Kerakoll® high-performance screed and guarantees chemical adhesion of all format tiles and natural stones. The foot traffic is possible just a day after application due to the rapid drying of the bonded system. Grouting can be done as soon as the system is dry with Fugabella® Eco Porcelana 0-5.

All products are carefully designed and tested to guarantee a compatible system for high-performance laying needs.

13 maximum adhesion, maximum workability

Tack Eco is a polymer modified binder adhesive containing pure white marbles from Kerakoll’s quarry in Carrara. It is applied as slurry bond coat and is especially developed for use with Keracem® Eco and Kerakoll® Quartzo to guarantee the chemical adhesion of tiles and natural stones. The use of special polymers ensures prolonged workable time ideal for the laying of large format tiles and stones.

4 The Kerakoll® guaranteed systemThe Kerakoll® bonded system is especially designed for laying all formats of tile and natural stone using the most popular existing laying technique in India. It prevents all the problems encountered in traditional laying such as low durability, cracks, de-bonding and damp rising, thanks to a system with uniform mechanical characteristics, high adhesion and rapid drying, all guaranteed by Kerakoll® .

2 Certified screedThe screed prepared using the mineral binder Keracem® Eco and Kerakoll® Quartzo, crushed sand of controlled granulometry, requires less water. It reacts uniformly and dries rapidly with no cracks and shrinkage, ensuring high durability. The mechanical characteristics are certified by Kerakoll® according to the type of floor to be laid.

1 No more stains and efflorescence The mineral binder Keracem® Eco contains fluidificants and cement of high hydraulicity index. Keracem® Eco together with Kerakoll® Quartzo creates a screed with a very high workability and very low residual humidity just after 24 hours, eliminating the problems of stains on light colored natural stones, efflorenscence in joints and rising damp through walls.

GREENBuiLdiNGKerakoll® is always focused on the environmental sustainability of the areas where we live. The new eco-compatible system for laying through slurry technique was developed by the research and development team of the Kerakoll® GreenLab. It respects the health of people using those spaces where the products are used as well as of those who apply them. The system makes use of recycled raw materials and crushed sand of basaltic origin instead of river sand, thus reducing the impact on natural resources.

The common issues WiTh The TradiTional laying sysTemThe traditional laying system consists of a screed based on sand and cement and a slurry bond coat of cement to lay the tiles and natural stones. The screed made up of sand of uncertified granunolometry and ordinary Portland cement often lacks the required mechanical strength and durability. The slurry bond coat of cement is not specific for laying tiles and stones. Following are the most common issues found in traditional system:

de-bonding The cement alone is a very rigid material. When mixed with water it dries rapidly thus allowing very little time for laying. The laying is often done with the use of white cement slurry after it has lost its adhesive properties leading to a weak bond with the tile.

1

shrinkage and saggingThe screed created using sand of uncertified granulometry and ordinary Portland cement leads to insufficient compressive strength. Furthermore, incorrect cement-sand ratio, fine sand and more than the required quantity of water leads to shrinkage and sagging of screed causing cracks and knocking sound through the tiles and stones.

2

rising damp through the wallThe traditional screed often uses sand of very fine granulometry and as a result a high quantity of water is required to wet the sand-cement mixture. The excess amount of water that is not used by cement to react, migrates upward causing damp rising through the walls and paint peel off.

3

stains and efflorescenceTo create a slurry bond coat of white cement with good workability, more water is added than required. The water in excess forms vapour and escapes through the stones and joints causing stains and efflorescence on the surface.
