    QUALITY CIRCLES (Q.C.)

    Operational mechanism of Q.C. is for quality improvement & isbased on Cause & Effect analysis

    It was 1stpresented by Prof. Keoru Ishikawa of University of Tokyoin 1950.

    The diagram given by him is called Cause & Effect Diagram (C & E)or Fish Bone Diagram (F.B)

    C & E Diagram is a picture of lines & symbols designed to representa relationship between the net result and the causes responsible forinferior quality

    The deficiencies can be in either of 4Ms Men, Material, Machineor Method

    The Q.C. members have to study them properly for suitableremedial measures

    Provides a new role of advisor to management & also permitsworkers & traditional trade unions to bring about changes in theleadership style

    The concept of Q.C. is being experimented in various servicesectors & Professional bodies

    Q.C. movement was started by BHEL, Hyderabad & also the 1stQ.C.was established in the year 1980 at BHEL only in India
