ABOUT FLEXUSABOUT FLEXUS Flexus is a Youth Dance Company formed in 2004

based in Wolverhampton made up of

dancers aged between 15 and 19 years. Their edgy

and dynamic works incorporate both

Contemporary Dance and Physical Theatre.

Flexus is an audition only company that aims to

d e l i v e r t r a i n i n g a n d p e r f o r m a n c e

opportunities and to raise standards of Youth

Dance in the West midlands. On top of their

intense technical training the dancers within

the company are educated as choreographers,

workshop leaders, and teachers so they are at

the centre of developing dance for their

generation.

Annually the company tour their major works to

theatres both regionally and nationally,

offering community and educational packages to

support the performance.

Last year Flexus were selected to represent the

West Midlands at U.Dance 2012 in London,

performing at the Royal Festival Hall.

‘‘PRIMITIVE’PRIMITIVE’ Primitive’is a hard hitting contemporary dance work delving into a Youths

interpretation of their generation and society. Heavily influenced by the riots, wars

and general social conflict, ‘Primitive’ reveals a society empty of morals and rules

drawn back to Primeval instincts for self gain and a desperation to be heard, ignorant

of consequence. Including commissions by Professional Dance Artist Jade Barton, this

new work promises to be a highly physical, intense performance by a rebellious

generation.

PACKAGE OPTIONS

Flexus will accommodate the individual school’s requirements. Below are some suggested packages to

be carried out at your establishment.

PACKAGE 1 : A performance of extracts from PRIMITIVE

PACKAGE 2 : A performance of extracts from PRIMITIVE and a supporting workshop

PACKAGE 3 : Technique class and workshop

Duration of packages: 2hrs/half day/full day

REQUIREMENTS

Technical requirements per workshop are:

Sound system

Suitable clean floor

A warm, well lit space (not a classroom)

The company may use photo/video recording equipment to document their work

In advance of the workshop the company requires the following information:

Name and address of workshop venue and time (to include break times if

appropriate)

The number of participants

The ability ranges

Any relevant medical conditions. BOOKING DETAILS Please find attached a booking form with available

return to the given address. Flexus do not charge a

fee for their educational packages, but ask that

establishments make a donation of £50 towards company

expenses. Please make cheques payable to Coppice

Performing Arts School writing Flexus on the back of

the cheque.

As part of the 2012 tour, Flexus are offering the opportunity of a performance and/or

workshop at your establishment.

This can be catered to your needs, and is a fantastic way of enriching and supporting your

students’studies in dance, introducing them to other youth dance groups as well as

providing networking opportunities for teachers and group leaders.
