A heavy voter turnout and thejudging of the voters' listcreate confusion during thepresidential elections,resulting in the disqualificationof three million voters.
Incidents of fraud, vote-buying, intimidation, andviolence are reported. Electionreturns are tampered with.
The Commission on Elections(COMELEC) tally board showsMarcos leading while theNational Citizen's Movementfor the Free Elections(NAMFREL) consistentlyshows Cory Aquino ahead bya comfortable margin.

subcommittee votes to cutmilitary aid to the Philippinesas long as Marcos is in power.
February 22,1986
Defense Minister Juan PonceEnrile and General FidelRamos announce theirwithdrawal of support forPresident Marcos and call forhis resignation.
With about 300 soldiers, theybarricade the Ministry ofDefense Police Headquarters.
Cardinal Sin makes an appealover Radio Veritas for peopleto bring food and lend moralsupport.
The overwhelming responseresults in the four-day peoplepower revolt that topples theMarcos dictatorship.
