Spring
This weeks joke is from Alvira Repia-King Rm 5
Vegetables Growing your own vegetables is easy and fun. Kids are
often more willing to eat vegies if they’ve grown them themselves.
Just a few recyclable containers will help to get you started. Cut the top off a plastic milk bottle and it
becomes a pot. Recyclable containers that make great
plant pots are: Tin cans, milk bottles, buckets,
yogurt pottles Make some drainage holes in the
bottom, place some small stones over the holes, fill with rich soil ready to plant!

Malo e lelei, kia ora, greetings Half the term gone already. Remember next week is the count down to the POP treat in the last week of term. Encourage your children to make the best choices they can. Use our school values Respect Excellence, Action, Learning and be REAL kids.
Pembroke's Got talent. The heats have started for this. I am looking forward to seeing who has talents I never knew they had. Mrs Cowie already tells me there are some great acts trying out for a place in the finals. Details of the finals to be announced. Assembly tomorrow At this stage it is looking like it will be fine for assembly. It will be held on the court outside the hall as long as it stays fine. The reason for this is that the hall is currently being used as a classroom due to the building works that are ongoing. Wear Blue Day Today is wear blue day to support those with diabetes. Thanks to all those who bought along a gold coin donation—we raised $242.20! Great effort! Road safety If your child rides a bike or scoots on a scooter to school please go over road rules, driveway safety and route they take to school. We are still getting reports of close calls where drivers come to us white faced from nearly hitting children crossing the road on bikes without looking. Fence and gates A big thank you to Breen's construction for the fabulous job they have done with the gates. We leave the pedestrian gates open outside of school hours so they don’t open and shut all the time. During the day please ensure you make sure the gates close properly when you come in or out. Your support is appreciated. Classroom re-development This is well underway for rooms three and four. We hope to see a final look coming through for room three next week. Year Six McKerrows pond trip This is on next week. Tuesday 19th. Please make sure your child is at school on time so they don’t miss the trip. We appreciate the work done by the Wainakarua Lions Club to allow this day to happen. Teacher Aide support Currently teacher aides are negotiating for a fair wage. Please read the attached flier seeking your support to pressure the Government to come to the table. Have a good weekend Regards Brent and Staff
